I have been on the FTS diet since 5-1-2013. Although my carbs and sugars are usually way below the 20 I have only lost 11 pounds in 6 weeks.

Please help me with suggestions and encouragement. I will do the same for you.

Welcome deerpark! I am Umpa,Dougs wife. If I can help you please ask. :) The thing that messes most people up is carb creep,they miss the simple stuff like condiments ,splenda or serving sizes. 11 pounds is a great start. On the home board you will see a place to post your menus,what you are eating and we will review them and see what you might be missing.You have to post everything that passes your lips.Include medications if you are taking them.We will help you,no worries. ;)

Hello Deerpark68, welcome to our family :) 11 pound in 6 weeks means 22 pounds in 12 weeks, 44 pounds in 24 weeks, 88 pounds in a year. Now I know you're in a hurry but remember this isn't a race nor is this a diet...it's a lifestyle change that you'll stick with forever. Umpa has given you great advice....list all your foods, beverages, medications and quantities so we can see if you're missing anything in your counts. You'd be surprised how easy it is to miss something  :o

Here are a few other ideas that may help:

1) Besides staying under 20 carbs, maintain good portion control.

2) Avoid grazing.
Eat only when your body is truly hungry.

3) Avoid ALL sweets!
Sugar alcohols in sweets can slow or stall weight loss progress.

4) Drink lots and lots of PLAIN water everyday (at LEAST 64 ounces)!
It does many wonderful things for your body and facilitates weight loss.

5) Get adequate sleep.
Sleep deprivation will slow progress.
