Coconut Oil
« on: July 29, 2013, 02:42:52 AM »
Managed to buy a jar of coconut oil today.  I know of it's many uses, but can't seem to find a recommended daily dose.  Anyone know?

Hi, Morgan!

I put about 1 TBSP on a GG Brancrisp with cream cheese and/or peanut butter each morning.
I will use it most anytime I need an oil for a recipe. I will also fry with it.

Tony

What you do today is what matters!

I blend it and cream into my coffee every morning, work up to 2TBs but just start with 1-2tsps at first because it can have digestive side effects until you get used to it. It's great for helping with candida overgrowth among many other benefits.

You obviously need to warm it up to use as a moisturiser or in your hair.  Do you recommend portioning it out of the jar and heating in microwave.  Reminds me of candle wax  :D

I keep a jar in the kitchen and a separate jar on my vanity.I like to take it right out of the jar and slather it on my feet and put socks on overnight.I use it in baking(couple tablespoons) when I need extra moisture like brownies.I got a jar for doug to try to fry with but he hasn't tried that yet.I haven't tried it for my hair yet, what a good idea. ;)

It's very yummy to fry with! I love it! I use the Nutiva brand. Very subtle flavor.

I melted mine down and poured it in my silicone mini muffin pan.  It made 1 and 2 tablespoon servings for easy use that I keep in a big ziplock.  I know you don't have to keep it in the refrigerator, but I feel much better keeping it there.  This makes it so much easier and less messy to use   ;)  This stuff is great to use inside and out  ;D

Hey Morgan - you don't have to heat it at all.  Once you scoop it out of the jar to use on your hair or skin it immediately melts.  Love it :)

Mine was solid too Morgan  Haha  by the way this stuff is great for making that chocolate coating that hardens on ice cream  ::) ::)  It's so yummy and FTS zero is perfect as a sweetener with it  ;) ;)
