Title: Just ate dinner at Olive Garden....
Post by: Siltz on January 19, 2013, 10:29:47 PM
Did my best to stay low carb.  No pasta!  No potatoes!  Steak and chicken kabobs with peppers and onions.  Grilled yellow squash and zucchini for a side.  Salad minus the croutans.  How did I do?

You did great...I love the Olive Garden  8)  What I'm most proud of you for is pushing away those bread sticks that came with the salad bowl!  ;) When we're out and order we always ask the wait staff to keep the carbs in the kitchen  ::)

I LOVE the Olive Garden!  I have found that they will swap pasta for grilled veggies on most any dish!  I love their salad too!

Hi, Siltz! :)

You did a wonderful job in your food selections.
And they prove that you can go out to dinner, have a wonderful meal, and still live low carb!

You're doing great! ;D ;D ;D

I agree with Doug that passing on the breadsticks was a wonderful thing.  Congratulations.

I was shocked at how many people I saw killing themselves one "complementary" breadstick at a time.  And chasing it down with soda pop.

Welcome to the FTS family, Evelyn!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

I've been living FTS since August 2010.
I'm a member of the "turtle club"... Slow and steady wins the race! ;)

When I started, I was type II diabetic with high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
I was taking FIVE different medications for these conditions. I was NOT in good shape!

Now, I'm not effected by any of these conditions and take ZERO meds!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
This is all thanks to the FTS lifestyle!

I'm healthier now than I've been in over 3 decades!
And intend on staying that way by living the FTS lifestyle for the rest of my days.

FTS literally saved my life, and I'm eternally grateful to Doug for sharing it! :) :) :)

I used to go to Olive Garden a lot when I didn't know about the FTS book, but now I try to avoid it. It is such a temptation to have those free bread sticks. You were very smart on your choices,
Congrats!

Thanks TooSweet!

I have been reading some posts and there are tons of material to follow! Recipes, guides, etc. I have followed the book since a month ago, but honestly I haven't been following all the instructions, I know that I have to stick to it if I want to see results. Let's see how it works.

Welcome Evelyn and Don.  I have been living FTS since September.  For me, one of the best things about this lifestyle is the fact that we don't eliminate foods, we find delicious, low carb alternatives.  That way you never feel deprived.  No need to binge.  Also, since it is a lifelong program, you don't stop at the end.  In the past I have been successful in following "diets" but always went back to my old habits after reaching my goal and regained the weight (and more, of course).

This forum is da bomb... You will find the people here very supportive, knowledgeable and just plain nice.  And if you need tough love, they will give it to -- without judging.

Welcome to the FTS family, DonMemo!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

And congrats on being 1/4 of the way to your goal! ;D ;D ;D ;D

The FTS lifestyle program is very easy to follow, once you can get your mind completely away from the so-called conventional wisdom about calories and weight. After a few weeks, it starts to become second nature.

I've been living FTS over two years and can never see myself going back to my old ways.
Getting my health back has been too big a blessing to lose.
I want to watch my grandkids grow up before I'm done! 8)

Please participate in our discussions often!
You'll be amazed at how helpful it will be to you.

I've been living FTS since 1/13.  I'll admit I wasn't very faithful to the plan today, but will be back at it with a vengeance tomorrow!  A big shout out to mouseissue (Tony) for his advice on taking daily fiber.  It has helped greatly!  I mix some Miralax with a drink every day now.

Eating high protein can really slow the bus down.
Especially on those days we eat LOTS of cheese.

But by taking fiber supplements, the bus just keeps on truckin' along! ;D ;D ;D
