fts works! thanks doug and umpa!
we traded our big dinner plates for little dessert plates to eat our meals on.
we switched from 3 big meals a day to 5 meals a day like fts says.
we use little dessert spoons to eat with instead of soup spoons.
we bullet proof our fridge and freezer to the fts way.
the pantry, we need to bag up the carb/sugar stuff and give it away to a local mission.
buddy walks all day at work at a restaurant.  Christina walks 10 minutes inside the house for starters, around and around the house.
used to have a rebounder trampoline but buddy was afraid Christina would hurt her knee or ankle.
Christina drinks 22 eight ounce cups of water a day, half her body weight.  buddy drinks 14. we feel like were floating.
we put the salt shaker in the kitchen cupboard instead of on the table.  we use pepper instead.
in the last 3 weeks as of today we lost 10 pounds apiece. but we didn't make these changes till a week ago.
we would have lost much more weight if we started fts right away.
our goal is to lose 100 pounds for Christina in the next 6 months and for buddy 50 pounds in 3 months.
this past Tuesday we had a cheat day and that really hurt our weight loss and so we wont do that again.
what we will do is just pick a fts dessert and eat that, something on the fts menu in doug's and umpa's book.
we use the George Forman inside counter grill to cook our chicken and ground turkey on.  easy and less mess and time.
we know we can do it the fts way because it works!    no looking back at the past and no regrets.
Christina fits a pair of jeans today that she couldn't 10 lbs. ago.  buddy's work clothes are much looser and his belt tighter.
we also go on the internet and look up weight loss success before and after videos and photos to help with motivation.
what we found is the number one thing people eat is lean chicken and greens, over and again.
thanks fts forum family for your support and encouragement!

I'm so happy for your dedication and commitment. Yes,  out there they promote lean this,  lean that and for us,  high fat,  moderate protein, low carb is what Doug and Umpa promotes for weight loss and health. So get motivated by the videos and read and learn about everything but don't succumb to the pitfalls of fat free and lean meats. Fats, saturated and unsaturated is what would give you a long feeling of being satiated and to keep you satisfied without the cravings to eat food or sweets.

thanks hawks for the encouragement.  today we watched a lot of youtube videos, some about real obese people (700-900 lbs) and also about anorexia people, both are very sad and disturbing to us.  it makes us thankful that we are healthy with no real medical issues. lots of americans sure do have eating disorders and we are so glad that doug and umpa are out there helping people like us.  we are starting to pay much more attention to how much sugar substitute we are eating and the carbs in condiments etc...  they really add up quicker that we thought.  went to Wal-Mart yesterday and bought a better low carb natural peanut butter and a olive oil base mayonnaise.  we have a long ways to go in losing weight and it is coming off slowly but that is okay.  this is a forever way of eating now for us and it took awhile for us not to think of it as a diet.  because a diet you can quit tomorrow but we have come to terms that fts and low carb living is a must do for life to stay alive and healthy.  for Christina there is so many things that she can't wait to do in life again, just the simplist things like driving again.

thanks umpa and doug for your encouragement!  to make the weight come off faster for Christina we decided and started today with replacing 3 of our meals with protein shakes.  we get the protein powder at sam's club and its called muscletech.  we share one serving portion of the shake between both of us.  so that is 4 net carbs apiece a time.  that's 12 carbs in a day right there.  but we really knuckle down and watch closely our carbs counts to be below 20 carbs as the fts way.  we are watching our calories too.  its a lot of dedication but we want it so bad.  Christina visits her family up north in 5 months and 20 days and she really wants to surprise them.  we know that together, buddy and Christina and the fts forum that we can do it!

looking back we don't think our ideas were that great for example:
the little plates are getting "old", we were eating too little
we only eat now when we get hungry which is the fts way (not 5-6 times /day)
exercise is fine but we agree that watching what we eat is best and easier
drinking that much water is really hard so 8 eight oz. cups is great
not having salt is hard so a little is fine
we both lost 14 pounds so far.  100 pounds in 6 months is a little high lol !
in our week we take a day(s) off and eat some sugar free treats that we make
our advice is to read doug's book a few times (for clarity)  and just follow the fts way!

we stopped taking the protein powder and are now eating real food
protein shakes are not for long term
we stopped counting calories too
we still desire to lose lots of weight and are dedicated to fts
but for Christina to lose 100 pounds before seeing her family up north is too high of a goal
more reasonable is 40-60 pounds about 10 pounds a month
ditto: just read doug's book and do it the fts way and you'll do great

Good for you guys! 14 pounds each...gone! that's a thanksgiving turkey each off your knees and back :) Did you know that for every 1 pound you lose you take 4 pounds of pressure off your knees? Right now your knees are thanking you :)

I want to compliment you for making the changes which were suggested to you by myself and our forum members. You are now on the correct track and I'm certain you'll stay the course.

Nothing frustrates and saddens me more than working with people who simply won't take our advice to heart. They post their foods, how they eat, what their doing and ask for help.....then they don't make the proper changes. Why? Well, my guess is they simply don't have "the want to" You guys on the other hand have the want to and you're proving it every day

Bravo!  8)
