Last night I made the chocolate cake in a 9 x 13 baking dish, I was surprised that it only ended up being about  1 inch deep.  I made the frosting using Torani  sf chocolate syrup it was okay but has a funny bitter taste.  My husband and I both took a bite looked at each other and said, "well it's different".  :-\

No actually, I didn't add the hot water.  I have no idea why it didn't rise, I followed the recipe exactly as it was written.  It was kinda sad :(

I buy new baking powder and baking soda every 60 days.I usually find that is the culprit when my baked goods don't rise.I buy the smallest container I need. The old stuff is great for cleaning. ;)

Yes I would prefer that you did Amber. This is a older recipe that I did as a birthday cake for SouthCarolinaLady.I have pretty much gotten away from soy flour except for scones. ;)

Thanks!  I used Sugar Free Chocolate Chips for frosting.  I just sprinkled a few on top while the cake was warm and then spread it out.  I don't really care for the cream cheese frosting.
