Title: Strawberries
Post by: jacksprattswife on July 07, 2011, 08:43:45 AM

Hi Doug!

I have been eating strawberries, only a half cup, for breakfast because I thought they were the lowest carb fruit.  Now I am reading in a carb counter book that they have 12 carbs per cup!  Can this be true?

The Fat to Skinny carb counter book is correct at 4 carbs for a cup ;) Enjoy!

There are so many conflicting carb counts. It's almost impossible for me to keep track and know what is right and what isn't.

FatSecret.com has 1 cup of whole strawberries at 8.16 net carbs.
Carb-Counter.org has the same at 8.18 net carbs.
Carbs-Information.com has the same at 9.5 net carbs.
Doug has them at 4 net carbs? Whole berries?

I don't know what to think anymore. SO confusing!

Use your fat to skinny carb counter book Rena.Alot of research went into that book. ;) I am anal about carb counts! :D
Alot of the sites unless they are low carb don't subtract fiber ;)

Fresh whole strawberries will measure differently than chopped up berries or frozen, then thawed berries due to the voids in the cup being filled. Stick with my carb counter numbers. It took over a year of research weeding through all the misinformation to arrive at the true numbers.
