Hi guys!

Was just wondering. When the stomache shrinks, does it cramp? For the past couple of days, it has felt like a pulled muscle? I know it's not the monthly kinda cramping??

Hi Stephanie! :)

If we eat too much at one time, or eat and do something strenuous (like swim) right after, stomach cramps can result.

Under most circumstance, cramps are caused by a potassium deficiency.
However, they usually will occur in ANY muscle group. Not just the stomach.

Foods high in potassium include:

Avocados
Paprika and Red Chili Powder
Cocoa Powder and SF Chocolate
Pistachios and Other Nuts (e.g. almonds).
Seeds (Pumpkin, Squash, Sunflower, and Flax)
Fish (from the sea)
Soy Beans

Cramps can also be caused by excess stomach gas, eating something that is going "bad" or doesn't agree with you.

And finally, some illnesses (like some flu) can cause it.
What you do today is what matters!

Doesn't constipation cause it, too?

Hi Snobles
My tummy cramps up when I try and eat to much for sure.  Most times my eyes are to big for my real hunger..LOL  It doesn't take much anymore to get me full...LOL  I think it has to do with habit mostly.  :) If I eat more than a spoon of this and one of that my tummy won't feel to good for a while.  And of cours if things aren't moving along..... not a happy camper  ;)

Tony is right though.....potassium deficiency surely will cause muscle cramps as well but I think most of us are eating a diet that is by nature high in potassium any way.  As to if we are getting enough might be the question.   Here is a link that will talk about the level in foods: http://www.drugs.com/cg/potassium-content-of-foods-list.html
I was surprised that even ice burg lettuce has as much potassium in it. LOL

I hope your tummy feels better soon Stephanie

Mine also cramps if I eat something with hidden sugar, it can make me feel like I have the flu. So watch out for that too.

Feel better soon.

It's awful but it also keeps me on FTS. Imagine what that horrible stuff is doing to our body if it makes us that sick with just one serving.
