Well I can't speak for her, but I know for me that it seemed like it was going to be a lot of work and a lot of cooking. Now it is more like I can't believe I am eating so well, not starving, and losing weight!
Dont give up- when she is ready to listen, she will!

Oh MI, it sure is yummy! They used to have a Z'Tejas in Dallas but it closed... so I have to go to Austin for my ACF pie fix unless I make it at home. Looking forward to having Umpa convert it!

Yes, it has chilis in it, but Ancho chilis are mild and sweet- they really enhance the chocolate, and it is not a spicy pie at all! :)

Ask Umpa / Z'Tejas Ancho Chili Fudge Pie- convert for me pls?
« on: August 08, 2011, 11:20:24 AM »
I swear if you can convert this for me, I will fall down and kiss your feet (assuming I ever get to meet you!)

Ancho Chile Fudge Pie
Ingredients:
1 9 in. Deep dish prepared pie crust
2 each Eggs
1/2 cup Flour
1/2 cup White sugar
1/2 cup Brown sugar
1 cup Butter (2 sticks)
1/2 cup Pecans
1/2 cup Walnuts
1 cup Chocolate chips
3/4 tsp Ancho Chile Peppers, ground
Ancho peppers are available whole. To grind, soften peppers in water for 3 minutes,
drain, grind in blender. Do NOT use chile powder.
Preparation:
Melt butter and allow to cool. Toast pecans and walnuts in oven on flat sheet until
lightly brown. Beat eggs well. Add white flour, white sugar and brown sugar. Mix
until smooth. Add cool butter, mix well.
Mix in nuts, chile peppers and chocolate chips. Fold into mixture. Pour into prepared pie crust.
Bake at 325 degrees for 45-55 minutes.

Product Reviews / Braum's CarbWatch ice cream.... so good!!!
« on: August 08, 2011, 10:49:07 AM »
Not sure where everyone is located, but for those in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri, you may have a Braum's ice cream store nearby! My family loves to get ice cream from there, but of course once I started F2S I feared we would just have to cut out any trips to Braums. After going through several local grocery stores looking for low carb ice cream (and being so disappointed with lack of variety) I found that Braums has a line called Carbwatch that is only 2-3 net carbs per serving!
The flavors they carry are: Butter Pecan, Choc Chip. Choc Pecan, Choc Almond, Vanilla, Chocolate, and Coffee. I have only tried the Choc Almond (as that has always been my favorite whenever we would go get a scoop) and I have found it is every bit as tasty as the full-carb version!

I hope this helps other ice cream lovers in my general area... for the rest of you, you should come visit me so we can make a Braums run ;)

Hello! I am a 43 year old Mama of 7 year old twins! My parents visited a few weeks ago and introduced me to Doug's book. At first, I balked a bit- what with running kids around, plus my full time (and then some) IT job, I did not think I would have the time or mental energy to plan meals, pack my food, and such. I have been exhausted for years, and the thought of making effort to go through another diet plan just made me want to crawl off and take a nap :)
Anyways, after thinking about it a little more and deciding to start simple (no fancy cooking- at least not to start) I started last Tuesday.
This has been much easier than I thought! I am not starving on this plan, I feel a little less tired, and I peeked at the scale this am and saw I have lost 3.5 pounds!!! I still have a long ways to go (I am 5'0 and at 172.5) but this plan is NOT feeling diety at all to me!
My first big goal is to get out of plus sizes by Mid December (we are going to Uni Studios in Orlando then- I dont want to be too big to ride the rides!)
