Hi there from Texas
« on: August 08, 2011, 10:40:25 AM »
Hello! I am a 43 year old Mama of 7 year old twins! My parents visited a few weeks ago and introduced me to Doug's book. At first, I balked a bit- what with running kids around, plus my full time (and then some) IT job, I did not think I would have the time or mental energy to plan meals, pack my food, and such. I have been exhausted for years, and the thought of making effort to go through another diet plan just made me want to crawl off and take a nap :)
Anyways, after thinking about it a little more and deciding to start simple (no fancy cooking- at least not to start) I started last Tuesday.
This has been much easier than I thought! I am not starving on this plan, I feel a little less tired, and I peeked at the scale this am and saw I have lost 3.5 pounds!!! I still have a long ways to go (I am 5'0 and at 172.5) but this plan is NOT feeling diety at all to me!
My first big goal is to get out of plus sizes by Mid December (we are going to Uni Studios in Orlando then- I dont want to be too big to ride the rides!)

Welcome to FTS Beth!

Tomorrow will be 5 weeks for me.  I'm enjoying this way of eating (lifestyle change) very much.  Don't waste as much time as I have trying the one minute muffin.  It is extremely filling and will curb your hunger pangs.  Congrats on the weight loss.  Don't get discouraged if you "stall".  I have been stalled for a week and this morning it finally showed up as .2 pds gone LOL.  But the energy, lack of cravings and lots of fibre and protein are great.  Good Luck.

Hi Beth!  Welcome to the FTS forum!  I LOVE this place!  Seriously, I probably would have fell off the wagon way back had it not been for the support of the amazing people on here!  I recently tried the one minute muffin, and I am addicted!  There's lots of easy recipes, so check out the recipe exchange and get the bakery book too!  Congrats on your great start!  Welcome to the family!  ;D

Congrats on the weight loss so far!

I'm like you and don't get into the fancy recipes all that much. I might make one here and there, but for the most part, I keep my daily food plan really simple. My family has learned to fend for themselves. Every once and awhile I'll surprise them by making something we can all eat, but for the most part, they're on their own. It's just easier for me for now. However, they're starting to like some of my low-carb choices, so that's a benefit all in itself.

Welcome to the board and good luck with your progress.
