Dreamfield Pasta
« on: March 19, 2011, 07:54:24 AM »
Hi all.  I am trying to have my low carb options in place before I get started (hoping it helps with the transition!).  Searching carbsmart.com I came across Dreamfield Pasta. Supposed to be 5gm "available" carbs?  Any thoughts?  Thank you!

Try these: www.miraclenoodle.com or the shirataki noodles at www.asianfoodgrocer.com.

I found some called NoOodle recently, too. You can look them up online. Amazon sells all of them.

Yes Chuckanzo I have used eggplant and it was very good I boiled it for a minuite I think it would be better not to boil first so it will not get mushy when it cooks in the oven .

And Welcome to the FTS way of life !!!!!

Welcome to the family, chuckanzo!  :) :) :) :) :) :)

Although Dreamfield's is out, there are other options.

Check out AsianFoodGrocer.com and search for "shirataki noodle".
You will find a good selection of zero or near zero carb noodle options.
They are the most inexpensive I've found online.

Many of these noodles have a "fishy" sort of smell right out of the package.
I rinse them 3 times and microwave for 1 minute between each rinse to get rid of it.
They take on the flavor of whatever they are mixed with.

Of course, you can use zucchini or eggplant as well.
Both are quite tasty of you like these vegetables.

Welcome to the FTS forum family Chuckanzo.  I make Lasagna using thinly sliced zucchini as my "noodles" (cut lengthwise)and it does not have to be precooked, just use the raw zucchini.  I don't peel it either.  It softens up in the oven and takes on the sauce flavour.  I just make it like my old recipe only I use low carb pasta sauce.  Meat, cheese, mushrooms, little onion and garlic.  Turns out very good.  My family liked it too.
