I just ate pizza and it was yummy. I have a local pizza place that I absolutely love. I haven't had them in a year and half since I went on FTS. So today when my guys wanted pizza I said lets go for it. They ordered my favorite which has bell peppers, sausage, mushrooms, cheese and super light on the sauce. When it arrived I took one of my low carb pitas and cut it in half. Carefully slide the top off one piece of pizza, cheese and all into half the pita. It was the PERFECT size for half a pita. I did that with another piece and had what really reminded me of a calzone. Now the pita has four carbs and even though I believe the topping was 3 or less, I gave it five just to be safe. It was AMAZING and super filling. Great way to have pizza with everyone and not get all the carbs.  I love FTS!

How To Maintain Your New Weight / Tossing the Scale
« on: August 02, 2011, 08:07:23 AM »
I was reading a post by Umpa the other day about how she doesn't let the scale dictate her life. She goes by how her clothes fit. I am going to try this method for a month.

It's really exciting finally to have lost the weight. Just yesterday I was at lunch with a friend and she told me I needed to stop losing because I was getting to thin. LOL, no one has ever told me that in my life! I feel like I'm doing pretty good with the maintenance part, it's just I hate the scale. One day I'm up a half a pound the next down two, it is always changing and if I'm up even an ounce it ruins my day. So as of this morning I'm putting the scale away and going by how my clothes fit. I am in love with Old Navy. Never in my life have I been able to shop there. They have these fantastic fitting jeans, in Tall none-the-less, and I love them. So as long as all my new jeans are all comfy, I'm going to assume I'm doing good.

So scale...you can take a 30 day vacation...we'll see you again in september.

What am I going to do everyday without that stress? Maybe have a party?? LOL

About six months ago I switched to Centrum Ultra for Women vitamins. When I switched I started losing weight hand over fist. I posted about it and everyone said it's not the vitamins. When they ran out I changed to my regular vitamins because they were on sale. So last Friday I ran out of vitamins and the Centrum Ultra's were on sale so I bought them again. I'm telling you there is something up with these vitamins! I am trying to maintain, eating more carbs than normal, it's that time of the month and I lost four pounds in two days. What is up with that?! I'm loving whatever it is but I really think there is something going on with these vitamins. Anyone else take them and notice a change when first taking them?

I am so thankful to Doug for many reasons, but today it's for this forum. There are so many of us that are now living the FTS lifestyle, have hit our goal and now are learning about maintaining. I was hoping we could learn from some of the masters like Katary and ShihtzuMom, and of course Doug and Umpa what their secrets for maintaining are. I am great at losing but this staying the same is difficult. I am learning, adding a few more carbs in and taking some out here.

Any suggestions guys? I have given myself 5 pounds to play with so I can lose and gain and not get upset. But when the scale goes up it freaks me out, even still!

General Discussion / My adventure with french fries
« on: July 09, 2011, 10:22:55 AM »
Last night I went out and had a fantastic time. Afterwards we went to eat and the french fries were starring at me. Granted it has been 15-16 months since I had a french fry. I'm in maintaining mode and thought why not just this once. So I had chilli cheese fries while my husband watched wondering what I was doing. They tasted great but the weird thing is they didn't taste as good as I remembered them tasting. They were really greasy and heavy. Once I was done with them I felt way over full and bloated. This morning though I am DYING! It's like I have the flu from hell. Stomach sick, head hurts, sluggish - no energy, AHHH!! Even my son commented on that I looked like I feel sick. So if this is what carbs makes me feel like I am so SO GLAD I don't eat them anymore. I feel like I went dancing all night, drank way too much and then ate a FULL thanksgiving dinner. I guess I learned my lesson but gosh I feel AWFUL!

If I feel this bad from one serving, what in the world are those carbs doing to my body??

Scary right!

General Discussion / My Doctor Who film short
« on: June 24, 2011, 12:43:58 PM »
As most of you know I'm a writer. I usually dabble in books but most recently I was asked to write a Doctor Who film short. I am a huge Dr Who fan so that was just a must do thing. The story was written by yours truly and my husband, also directed by my husband. But the cool thing is that the movie was the student graduating thesis film. So the kids graduating from the DAVE School had to design, model, light and animate the movie to graduate and they did an amazing job.

If you get a chance click the link and check it out, I'm really proud of it.

General Discussion / Walking up to strangers to spread the word
« on: June 14, 2011, 09:30:19 AM »
It is a new phenomenon that is happening with me and it's driving my husband crazy. When we are out at restaurants or even at the grocery store and I see an overweight person, the size of what I used to be, I have the overwhelming urge to sneak up to them and tell them I have the secret to being thin. My husband thinks that they are going to take it as an insult and be rude to me.  But it just hurts me to see someone living that way, the way I used to, when I know how they can change it all...forever. Dan (my cutiepie hubby) thinks if the rolls were reversed it would hurt my feelings but maybe if I can help just one person...it would be a good thing.

Any suggestions guys?

General Discussion / Chipotle- I'm addicted
« on: June 11, 2011, 12:04:32 PM »
Have you guys been to Chipotle lately? I am so addicted to their salad bowls. I go in and get the lettuce (extra of course) double meat, cheese and guacamole. The guacamole I get on the side so I can control the amount. One serving of the guacamole has 8 carbs so I usually only use half. But you can have a huge salad that is really good, tastes like a burrito really and it's only 6 carbs (that's my high estimate). If you haven't tried it I highly recommend it.

General Discussion / Plateauing and Russell Stovers
« on: May 20, 2011, 09:41:04 AM »
Hi All!! I hope your FTS week has been good!!

I am learning about plateauing and stress this week. Since I signed off over a week ago I have been fighting a plateau. It seems I hit one about every three months. The good thing is I'm still loosing inches but not a lot of pounds. I even went down another pants size this week. But I am so stressed from the kiddo now homeschooling and packing for the move, that I think it's adding to the plateau effect. Last week I fought gaining and loosing the same pound all week. I also have learned that if you want chocolate, the Russell Stover's truffles are awesome but eating a whole bag in a couple days, will make you gain weight.  :) Thankfully, I did finally loose 2 pounds but I had to really fight for those. I think I am going to just relax a bit and focus on the move and try to just get through it without eating bags of chocolate.  ;)

How is everyone else doing this week? Have you lost?

General Discussion / Stepping Out for a Couple of Week
« on: May 09, 2011, 08:27:52 AM »
Hi All!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am going to be MIA for a couple of weeks. The big move day is getting ever closer, only two weeks away. With needing to finish packing before the movers arrive and my kiddo home I am going to be swamped. I just wanted to let you all know I will be thinking of you all and missing you guys. Good luck everyone for the next two weeks, I can't wait to see how much everyone has lost when I return!!

Keep working your FTS lifestyle and I will see you after Memorial Day!!

General Discussion / Bathing Suit
« on: April 14, 2011, 08:02:54 PM »
I just got back from swimming in public in a cute LITTLE bathing suit! WOO HOO!

I have had to wear those ugly, skirt suits because of my weight, but most of the time I wouldn't go in at all. Today I went swimming in a black and white little polka dot "marilyn monroe" type suit and I was comfortable wearing it!! I haven't been comfortable in a bathing suit in 20 years! I am so excited!  ;D ;D

General Discussion / Cheesecake Morning, scale going away!
« on: April 12, 2011, 09:49:58 AM »
It's hot, I'm sunburnt and I am sitting here splurging on breakfast with a piece of four carb cheesecake. YUMMY!

I have been freaking out this week over the scale so I just wanted to post that I am going to put it away for a full week, maybe two! It has really been tormenting me this week and I'm just tired of it having that kind of power over my day. Why is it that if the number doesn't change, it can effect my whole day? Insane right! Anyway, I wanted to post this so that I wouldn't be tempted to pull it out and check and you guys can keep me on track. So now you all know....I am putting the scale away!

Now...back to my piece of cheesecake :)

General Discussion / Three days sick - I read the label wrong!
« on: April 05, 2011, 10:30:21 AM »
For the last three days I have been feeling really sick. My tummy felt like boulders were in it rolling around and I just felt all over yucky(technical term). It started Saturday, I had my usual three pieces of no carb ham with three pieces of no carb cheese. I have that most mornings for breakfast. It's great for on the go food, just roll it up and I'm off. Anyway I had that every morning- Sat, Sun & Monday. Sunday night I was hungry but my stomach was feeling so sick I didn't want a big meal, so I just had my three pieces of ham. So Monday morning I was making my sons lunch, complaining about not loosing anything since Sat morning, when my husband asked me why we had honey ham. I looked at the label, which looked identical to my regular ham and sure enough in little tiny type it said honey ham. Then I looked at the carbs listing it had 2 carbs PER SLICE!! Doesn't seem like much but the next ingredient after ham was sugar! I was blown away, eating 6 to 12 extra carbs a day without me even knowing it, no wonder I hadn't lost anything since the 2nd! Those hidden sugars are nasty, I didn't think they would make me so sick though with just that small amount. The good news is that in just one day my tummy has stopped hurting and I am down a pound.  I will definitely be more vigilant with those labels!
