Christmas Food Shopping
« on: December 18, 2012, 01:21:41 AM »
I just got back from the supermarket and was astounded at the amount of sugar laden foods available in the name of the Holiday Spirit - chocolates, lollies, cakes, puddings, chips, marinated meats, etc, but I suppose what floored me was the different flavoured (sweetened) creams - butterscotch and brandy flavoured being the main ones.  Talk about upping the carb count on your cream - wow.  Was just wondering if you have the same selections in the States?  What's the most decadent carb loaded item available?

I'm not sure about the same selections but there sure is plenty of sugar to go around.   :P :P  I'm so glad I can just walk right on past it all...HA!   Here is what Santa is getting this year  ;)

Now is the time to pick up those cute electric donut makers. They disappear from the shelves after Christmas.

It is a wonder that there are so many ways to eat the wrong things.

Hi Momma! :)

I make them with my mini doughnut maker.

Here's the recipe for the dough;
http://www.fattoskinny.net/index.php?topic=3476.msg33208#msg33208
Substitute FTS Zero for the xylitol.

Don't overload the doughnut maker!
Or the dough will ooze out during baking and make a mess! ::)

BTW, if you scroll down the page, you'll see Shawn's (TooSweet) Upside Down Pumpkin Pie.
It's SUPER good!!! ;D ;D ;D

I'm a pumpkin girl myself  ;D  I hate to say I haven't noticed the big display of the doughnut makers this year at my Walmart but I know you can find them at various places though.  They just may not be as good of a price...haha  I'm pretty sure I saw one just like it at Bed Bath & Beyond.

FYI....those little babies freeze very well even with the cream cheese frosting  ;)

We have those mini donut makers all year round $12.  I never thought to buy one myself.  Are they a good idea?

I absolutely love mine Morgan  ;D  I'm just a gadget girl though...haha  Yummy

These are my chocolate doughnuts I made last Christmas as well....as much as I like the pumpkin I believe these are my favorite  :)  I used Umpa's chocolate cake recipe in the bakery book and added sugar free chocolate chips or you could use this one http://www.fattoskinny.net/index.php?topic=3644.0

MommaB when searching the forum click on the red home page button in the left corner. Use the search bar on the homepage. That way you search the entire forum and not just the board you were on. I also like the coconut doughnuts in the Fat to Skinny Bakery book. When I wanna change them up I add rum imulsion(flavoring ) banana or mango ;)
