So this is how it happened....
Last week I asked Umpa out for dinner, she asked me "what are we having?" I answered "fresh New England lobster". She thought about it for a moment trying to figure out which restaurant I was goig to take her to then she commented.... "Honey, there's no fresh lobster in any of our mountain restaurants" In reply I said, " I know baby, but lobsters on sale for $4.99 a pound on Cape Cod so pack your suitcase!"
So here we are on the cape buried in lobster and loving it!
1- Hot steamed lobster with melted butter for dinner
2- Lobster omelets with lemony hollandaise sauce for breakfast
3- Ice cold cooked lobster with hot butter for lunch
and the beat goes on! We'll be here for a week :)
Coming up for grabs;
1- Deep fried lobster tails coated in pork rinds
2- Crab meat baked stuffed lobster
3- Lobster cakes
Do you have any great lobster recipes to share? I'd LOVE to try your recipe while we're here! Please post them below and we'll give em a try!

Hey Doug and Umpa

You need to try the lobster roll at Captain Al's, all lobster meat ,no filler, with mayo and / or melted butter on the side!

Last night we had lobster and clam chowder. My dad raked me up a mess of fresh quahogs also known as hard shell clams, little necks or cherry stones. Cherry stones are the smaller quahogs and are usually eaten raw on the half shell. Of course while I was cooking Dad kept cracking cherry stones so I had my share of these little wonders of the sea :) Here's my recipe for clam chowder, it was wonderful!
New England Clam Chowder (serves 4)
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups ground cooked clams
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup diced turnip
6 slices bacon cooked crisp and chopped
2 cups whipping cream
1 cup water
1/4 cup cooking sherry
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon butter
fresh parsley
Directions
1- Cook the chopped bacon in a a soup pot
2- Remove the bacon and strain the fat
3- Place a tablespoon of bacon fat back into the pot and add the butter
4- Cook all the veggies in the pot over medium heat till fork tender
5- Add the rest of ingredients except the parsley and bring the mixture up to hot but NOT TO A BOIL, boiling will curdle the cream
6- Serve with parsley as a garnish to be eaten after the meal

Lobstaaah, Clams and fresh Chowdah (got to say them right ;) ). I'm originally from that area, though in FL for many years now. I grew up on the wonderful fish and seafood from the New England Coast, and while Florida has great seafood too, nothing compares with cold water lobster of the New England coast. I'm so jealous!
Hubby and I were actually back home visiting family in June, and I ate lobster, lobster and more lobster. Had I known about Fat to Skinny then, I'd have done so with a whole different perspective.
