It's a girly-type surgery with actually 3 different procedures. I've had it before (two of them) and the recovery process wasn't too bad last time. I'm hoping it's the same thing time around. I'll be completely under for this, which is probably a good thing.
Just feeling a little stressed out and want to eat for some reason. :-[
-
Sending prayers to guide the surgeons hands and a speedy recovery Rena. I can understand the stress my friend....we are here for you. Be well :)
-
Thanks, Shawn!
I'm sure it's stress/nerves making me feel so hungry. Maybe I'll be so out of it tomorrow that I won't eat. I can only hope ...
-
Best of luck to you and wisdom for the doctors. Take care.
-
Sending best wishes!

All will be well tomorrow, Rena! You're in our prayers. Hurry well!

Prayers for you Rena.
I've had my TOM for 7 weeks now and since I have no insurance I have to wait until we can afford for me to go to the Dr. to find out what's wrong. I have my regular heavy week then still bleeding enough to wear something between my regular time...sometimes heavier sometimes hardly anything. I did some research and found it could be anything from stress to fibroids or tumors. Ugh...I thought it might be due to my age. It has been pretty stressful...I've had to fire and train 3 new people in a month plus all the seasonal stuff.
Anyway...didn't mean to talk about myself. I wish you the best and hope things go well. Just try to choose healthier things to munch on which will be better for your surgery/recovery too.
Hugs!

Izzet -- That sounds a lot like what I'm dealing with, except mine are polyps. I guess those are different than fibroids, but basically they cause the same symptoms. I'm having them removed, then a D&C, followed by something called an endometrial ablation. That's supposed to make my periods very light, if happen at all. And my doctor seems to think it might make having a hysterectomy later unnecessary. Here's to hoping! Good luck to you, too.
-
Thanks for the info Rena I will look into it. Peace and blessings be with you.
-
Rena, I hope all goes well tomorrow, and you will be in my prayers. I'll say one for you too Izzet. Hope you both feel better really soon! :)
-
Thanks, everyone!
Getting ready to leave now. We have a 40+ minute drive to the hospital. I live up in the boonies of Montana, you know. ;)

Hi Rena! :)
I know this is the "Girly" area of the forum and that you've likely already left for the hospital,
but I just wanted you to know that you and your doctors are in my prayers.
Please let us know how you're doing when you get back home!
Tony

Sending positive energy your way Rena :) Izzet 7 weeks is a long time. How are you feeling? ???
-
Thanks, Tony & Umpa.
The surgery went fine and I was home before noon. I've had this procedure before, with the exception of the ablation. This morning a friend of mine emailed and said she had the same thing done and told me she was in A LOT of pain afterwards. In away, that was a blessing she told me because my doctor just said I'd have some cramping. It wasn't until I was in pre-op that she mentioned it would be severe cramping. And it has been! I didn't expect this at all. It's like labor contractions that don't ease up at all. I've been in bed all day and it's hard to sleep even with my meds because of the pain. Hopefully, it will cease soon.
Even though my friend told me it was bad, she said she doesn't regret having it done at all because it's changed her life. Before we decided to add the ablation onto everything else, my doctor said we'd try this one more time and if it came back, then we'd probably end up doing a hysterectomy. Now she's saying people who have the ablations usually don't need the hysterectomy. I hope that's the case for me. I keep joking that some people grow vegetable gardens -- I grow polyps! Sigh!
Izzet -- Definitely get yourself checked out. My friend let hers go for too long and became severely anemic. At my last check-up, my doctor asked if I was at the tail end of my period. I said, "No. That's just all part of the fun and why I'm here!" Lucky me. Good luck to you, though, and I hope you can figure out what's going on.
-
I'm glad it's over and you're ok, Rena, despite the cramps. Before my hysterectomy, I had bad cramps and couldn't stand up straight or walk, so I know how it hurts! I can't think of a funny story for you to read to take your mind off of it for a second. If I do, I'll come write it down so you can read it!
-
Glad you are doing good and hopefully the pain will ease up with med's and rest.
-
I'm glad everything went as planned Rena.....now on to a speedy recovery ;D I hope you feel better soon ;)
-
Happy to see you home and safe Rena, sorry you're in pain :'(....hope you get to feel better soon.
-
Take care of you Rena ;)
-
Thinking of you today, Rena. How's it going? I hope you had a good night.
-
Thank you, everyone!
I'm feeling MUCH better this morning. Of course, I haven't gotten out of bed yet, but that's okay. The cramping has let up a lot, so hopefully I am on the mend now. Rick just made me some scrambled eggs with cheese & jalapeno, along with some bacon and coffee. He's been such a help to me.
Thanks for your well wishes and keeping me in your thoughts!
-
I'm glad that you are on the mend. I have a sister and sister-in-law that both had the ablation procedure and they both swear it dramatically improved their health.
My mother's best advice: keep your pjs on until you really feel up to all of your normal responsibilities. As soon as everyone sees you dressed, they think Mom's back! A bathrobe says something completely different.

How true is that!! ;D ;D
Great advise Andrea

I'm happy to hear that you are feeling better, Rena! :) :) :) :)
It's a real blessing to have a loved one around that will help you.
Rick sounds like a terrific guy!
My wife went through an ablation procedure about 12 years ago.
Sadly, cramping is part of the recovery.
It took her a few days. But by a week's time, she was completely back to her old self.
I trust it will be the same for you. :) :) :)

I woke up at 5 this morning with a huge Charlie Horse in my leg. I thought of you, Rena, while I hobbled to the kitchen for a glass of water and baking soda. I wish I had thought to suggest it for you - love to see if it would work for ya. It worked like magic for me this morning. When I got out of bed, I couldn't put my foot flat on the floor - it was twisted every which way (my foot, not the floor). Every muscle in my lower leg was cramping. It took me a minute to get to the kitchen - I'm going to keep a box of baking soda and a glass of water by the bed! The cramps stopped by the time the glass was empty. Whew! My leg isn't even sore now!
-
I will sure remember that remedy Sarah...thanks What ratio do you mix?
-
Sarah my Doug suffers (as well as me because he wakes me up hopping around the bedroom screaming :D) from leg cramps. His are always caused by not drinking enough water. ;)
-
Feeling A LOT better today! :)
Even thinking of going downstairs and getting on the Total Gym for a bit. :) :) :)
-
Rena, I'm so glad you're feeling better!
Shawn, it's 1 teaspoon of baking soda to a glassful of water. I tried a small glass of water and it was too strong - I had to dilute it to get it down. Last night - or rather this morning, I used 12 oz. of water and drank it right down. It's a lot like taking an alkaseltzer without the fizz. You will be amazed when you try it!
I had a really busy day today, so I'm sure I didn't get enough water - I'll have the remedy by my bed tonight for sure! Oh, and I forgot to mention - my leg isn't sore today like it usually is after a major cramp like that.
-
Feeling A LOT better today!
Yea!!!! I'm so glad Rena ;D
Thank you so much Sarah. I will be sure to try that the next time I get one....they sure are painful :'(
-
