Title: Dessert
Post by: Phil on May 11, 2010, 12:12:18 AM
I was having a craving for ice cream so i thought I would use heavy whipping cream with unsweetened coco and splenda has any one ever tried this? 3.3 on the carbs for one cup plus the splenda I used two packs. Filled me up and it was good! Also didn't make my blood sugar go up.

Splenda is evil. It has lots of carbs. You should try xylitol!

Have you tried the one that Bryer's makes? It's really good, too. It's called Carb Smart and they make a vanilla ice cream.

Ive had that one it has splenda in it to. I dunno what to do. Think we're just gonna start making our own.

But if it has Splenda in it, would the carbs from the splenda already be counted? I wonder if we could take a bit of cream cheese and mix it with heavy cream and some sweetener to make our own version somehow? I bet someone on here will figure it out soon  (ahem, ahem, MR SLEEPWALKER)

Ok, so I realize that the 2 grams of sugar alcohols cancels out the 2 grams of carbs to make 0 net carbs. But, DOUG, what about the 2 g of sugars? Does that play into the equation at all? I've been meaning to ask this and the popsicle box reminded me!

beebs,
According to the packets of splenda there is only <1 carb per packet. I know splendas bad I just didn't have any stevia at the time. I have not found any xylitol yet didn't even know about it till recently, thanks to you all.

katary,
That looks good! I have never seen it before whats the sweetener in it?

Katary,
It has sugar and sugar alcohol I cant have any of that. I just don't do good on any sugar.  I'm not sure if it's all in my head.... ::) but, it may be. There sure is a lot of stuff in those they do look good on the box. I use splenda very sparingly. I do ok with it.

Phil, switch to Stevia, it's not a sugar alcohol, it's all natural, Umpa can give you the details. Gary,I can't comment on the pops without seeing the nutritional label as well as the ingredient label. You should now be able to upload a bigger pic.

The sweeteners here are Maltodextrin and Sucralose(Splenda) It looks to me like they have counted the sugar alcohols as sugar and listed it twice. It's a bit confusing ...no surprise there. It's actually the Maltodextrin added to the Sucralose which gives Splenda it's 24 carbs per cup.

My rule is when in doubt count the carbs, I'd count each one as two carbs coming from the Maltodextrin.
