Okay, I got off my butt this week! I am at minus 34 pounds in 6 months...slow and steady... I walked my steep driveway a couple evenings this week. Tonight, I went to the high school track and walked 6 laps (1.5 miles) and now I'm sipping a diet Dr. Pepper at McDonalds and mooching some internet! I am waiting for time for our praise band rehearsal, killing time for a little while now. This soda is the first one I have had in weeks, though. I am a water-lover! I have attempted to walk, in the past, but I would get so winded, I wouldn't walk for more than about 10 minutes and then quit, exhausted. I had lots of energy to walk tonight, even felt energized when I was done. I'm not winded or exhausted...PRAISE THE LORD!!!! I want to walk, walk, walk and get this car engine GOING! When I get closer to my goal weight, I want to be jogging so I can run with my 13 year old who loves to run. LOFTY GOAL, but I'm stubborn.

donna it FEELS great to see your EXCITEMENT:) keep it up girl ;)
-
Good for you Owensmath. Isn't it great to walk and not feel winded!!! You'll be jogging before you know it.
-
Sooooooooooooooo happy for you it puts a happy tear in my eye! ;D ;D
-
OWENSMATH YOU ROCK!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
I wish I could start losing again... :P
-
Wow, that is a major accomplishment. I have been trying to get back into exercising but have been fighting a battle with allergies that leaves me with no extra energy after work. Been trying to at least get some Pilates core strengthening in in the morning before work.
-
Well this afternoon, my 13 year old and I walked at the park for 30 minutes during part of my 15 year old's soccer practice time. It was great, but I'm not sure how far we walked. I just know how LONG we walked. Then, we grabbed dinner at the local Mexican restaurant with my husband in between meetings for him. I ordered juevos con chorizo (scrambled eggs with Mexican sausage). OMG, it was soooo good!
-
Pretty soon you'll be wearing a snazzy jogging suit to church! That'll raise some eyebrows :o 8)
-
Well what a great idea! I am not the typical pastor's wife anyway. I'll have to begin looking for the perfect jogging suit.
-
Donna:) you WILL be able to jog:) your body will do things you never thought you could do....I've been running/walking 6 miles every other day for a few weeks now:) I've found myself more dedicated to pushing myself & not to lose weight (http://www.fattoskinny.com/)....but because i CAN....before i would barely make it up the stairs to the bedroom...now that's just a "warm up" lol Donna we have been here for about the same amount of time....and it makes me SO HAPPY to see you HAPPY:)
-
Way to go! And what a great way to spend time with your teenager. You Rock! ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
I wish I could start losing again... :P
You will loose again. It's strange how it stalls...but THRILLING when it starts back up again and it ALWAYS starts back up again. :)
-
I agree with sherripie, what a great way to spend time with the kids! :)
-
Huh? Ive been stalled for almost three months now, Im ready to commit hari kari or something. Can I come stay with you for a week umpa? Maybe that would help lol!
-
Donna, I didn't know you are a Pastor's wife. That is NOT an easy thing to be! You will be lifted up in my prayers regularly. We just started a small prayer group at our house on Sunday evening. What an honor that is. We had our first meeting last Sunday night and it was so great to be able to share with everyone how this way of eating has answered our prayers for Doug's healing. :)
-
Today's thirty minute walk was a little longer! We spent the afternoon in the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest (outside of Robbinsville, NC, off US Hwy 129). It was beautiful and I've posted pics on my facebook page. WOW!!!

Beebs that's a great idea! Umpa you could host a week intensive camp and cook for us all! Yum!!
Maybe we could call it a "healthy support group" and get the cost covered by insurance. LOL

Thanks for your encouraging words! I jumped on the treadmill last night for 50 minutes and watched the new "Dancing With The Stars" program.
It felt great to "exercise" ! Excercise should be considered a "reward" to ourselves and not "punishment" -- seeing results are wonderful !!! Hoping to melt off/walk off the last 10 lbs. real soon ! :)
Have a great day everyone!

Wow Susie, good for you! I love to exercise but have been very BAD about it lately. And beebs, I am going to hunt you down on FB :)
-
Good for you, Owensmath!
My girls have been telling me lately "Mom, Imagine if you started walking along with this food plan!"
I need to...I need to have the great feeling you are having...more energy, spending more time outside with kids etc...
You must need a new wardrobe by now...
;)

Sbclark when you exercise it will send your energy level through the roof! And with all the babies you are gonna need it! ;D

Okay, so I got off my butt again today! I loved it. I walked 1.75 miles near our local park and in town. I did it in 35 minutes and it was even steep hills for part of it. If you know me, you know this is a HUGE accomplishment!
-
Did you find that cute sweat suit yet?
-
Now, Doug...You have been to Murphy. Do you think there is anywhere in this town that sells that stuff? I'll have to trek to Atlanta for that!
-
