What a difference 2 years can make
« on: November 10, 2012, 08:54:39 AM »
2 years ago I was 80 pounds overweight and couldn't have run 100 yards if I tried (and I didn't try, by the way!).  Then I found Doug's book and started on the Fat To Skinny way of eating.

At 5:30 this morning, I went out and ran 10 miles without stopping to walk.  And I am almost back to the weight I want to be at when I run my first half marathon this February.  I haven't done a 10-mile run since sometime in the early 80s.

Pretty happy about this progress!  The beautiful thing is, anyone can do this!  Of course, not everyone loves to run - but it wasn't the running that enabled me to lose the weight.  It was losing the weight that enabled me to start running again.

A year from now, you can either be saying, "Wow, a year ago I got serious and look at the progress I've made!"... OR ... "Wow, I wish I started a year ago."  Get serious TODAY and start making a change in your life!  It really is possible!

Amen.

Running a few errands takes on a whole new meaning.

I always thought that just running would be a wonderful thing to do and losing weight obviously would help as you wouldn't feel like you were having a heart attack.  I'm looking forward to that moment.  Not that I plan running a marathon, but it would be good to know I can do a quick sprint when needed.  Congrats - wow 10 miles - way cool 8)

That's fantastic, Scott!!! :) :) :) :) :)

I really like your statement;

''... Of course, not everyone loves to run - but it wasn't the running that enabled me to lose the weight.  It was losing the weight that enabled me to start running again."

For those out there that think "exercise" is the key to weight loss, should read this TWICE!

Kudos, Scott! 8)

Oh wow!  Im so pleased for you Scott!  You're incredibly inspiring!

Im only on day 6 of my lifestyle change, but I was thinking last night... for once I won't be that girl setting herself a New Year's Resolution to lose weight and then giving up a few weeks into the new year  ;)  Because Im making that change NOW!

Congrats on that 10 mile run!

I just want to be able to chase my kids around the playground without getting winded.
