Title: Roasted "Turnip-atoes"
Post by: Doug Varrieur on December 20, 2010, 09:40:47 AM
Potatoes have been a staple in our diets for centuries and we can't help but miss them on our holiday plates. Of course potatoes are loaded with starch and theirfor poison to our eating plan. As you all know developing low sugar replacement recipes is the cornerstone of the FAT TO SKINNY long term life style change.

Here's a great little recipe to replace roasted potatoes.

Buy some turnips from the market, figure 1/2 cup of turnip per person (2.5 carbs) Plan on keeping them out on the counter for a few days to develop their natural sugars.

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees
Peel and cube your turnips into desired size ( I like them about 1 inch)
Toss them into a bowl and oil them up well with a good virgin olive oil then season with your favorite blend. (I like salt, pepper and a bit of Italian Seasoning)
Spread your cubed seasoned turnips out onto a cookie sheet and roast until golden brown.
Serve with a dollop of sour cream.

We had these last night with venison and they were delicious....enjoy!

Hey, Doug! I had someone at church tell me that I look great and I should write a book about what I'm doing. My reply: "There's already a book about it. Go to www.fattoskinny.com (http://www.fattoskinny.com)"

Merry Christmas to you and Umpa, too!

You know, now that I'm hearing comments from people, it's a little awkward. I hear their words, but I still SEE the 54 pounds that I want to lose and I don't feel like I'm anywhere near skinny yet. It's a mind game, I guess.

Seriously? I feel the same way. I know I look different, but I still see myself heavier.  :-\

Hi Rena! :)

I too "see" myself as looking the same as I did before I started.
It's a trick our minds play on us since our minds gravitate toward consistency of perception.

Self-image (self-perception) is built over our lifetimes.
If we've been FAT for many years, it will take many years to "shake off" that old mental image.
