« on: July 13, 2014, 10:58:25 AM »
my mother n law had the lapban done, and she lost all her weigt, but of course, the skin is still there, putting it nicely. But, she knows all shes "allowed" to eat on the lapban is salads, but will consistently et sweats and breads, etc...and throws it back up(which is something everybody needs to see once in their lifetime)but wont throwing up all the time, make your throat and your insides bad? I've always wondered that? She does it quite often.

Stephanie.

Excessive vomiting is VERY dangerous!!! :o :o :o

It can damage the esophagus (food pipe) and soft tissue in the throat.
There is also strong evidence that it can bring on cancer of the esophagus and/or throat.

Do whatever you can to get you mom-in-law to STOP eating sugary sweets and starchy garbage.
She could bring on health nightmares with that constant vomiting and carb intake.

There are so many delicious low-carb sweet and delicious foods to eat.
So there's no need for her to persist on eating junk that's bad for her health on MANY levels.

If she cannot stop, she may have an eating disorder.
If you suspect this, please get her to a doctor to talk about it ASAP!

Constant throwing up also corrodes the enamel on your teeth.  Not good.

@susie. I would be too! I don't like throwing up. She's only allowed to eat salads with the lap ban & whenever she eats anything sweet or breaded she throws up. It's supposed to be a "learning tool" but I think she's actually taking advantage of it!:(

My friend got around her lapbanding by taking small bites and chewing thoroughly. No food was off limits. What was the point?  The other friend would just eat what she wanted, taking her time.  also, what was the point.  Neither learned anything.

@morgan, I feel ya. Even before the mil had the lap ban and wasn't skinny she was eating sweets etc. & we've been trying for years to get her to eat right. I would rather loose weight this way than with surgery!
