Title: Going out to eat- Hidden Carbs?
Post by: o0OSusieO0o on September 24, 2014, 10:12:43 AM
I generally stay away from Chinese & Italian restaurants but now have an important parent meeting to go to with Jobs Daughters. Here are some items on the menu I'm looking at. It's a local Italian restaurant called Napoli's.

Looking at chicken because the items are usually more affordable.

Pollo Cacciatore Boneless chicken breast sautéed with mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and olives.
Pollo Marsala Boneless chicken breast sautéed in marsala wine and mushrooms.
Pollo San Marzano Chicken breast sautéed with garlic, artichoke hearts, olives, sundried tomatoes and white wine sauce
Pollo Genovese Boneless chicken breast with mushrooms and sundried tomatoes in a light pesto cream sauce.
What do you the hidden carbs an Italian restaurant puts in their dishes?

Are they on line Susie?  If not you could call them and ask what the counts are.  I would question first if the chicken is breaded in any way.  They all sound yummy though.  Surprisingly you can find lots of Italian dishes that are low carb.   ;D

One thing I noticed on the menu is they do say if a meat is breaded.

That's where they get me usually - the chicken is usually coated in something , if not crumbs it's flour.  It doesn't hurt to ask. You could even ring up beforehand and ask how its made - less fuss when you actually eat there.

Hi Susie, as long as nothing is breaded they'll all be ok... One thing to ask is if they thicken their wine sauces with flour.... Be sure to take a picture of your plate!

Thank you so much, I will contact them. I'll try to remember to take a picture of my plate.
