pickles
« on: April 20, 2011, 12:51:53 PM »
Hi all-I have been searching...my pickle jar says less then 1 gram of carbs.  How do you all count pickles?  I eat those dill spears or three mini dills.  Thanks.  I am really enjoying all of this energy.  Slowly loosing on the scale but my pants are really fitting nicely.  Thanks for all of the positives! ;)

Hi Beth! :)

If you see a net carb count of less than 1 gram (<1), the serving will have anywhere from 0.5 to 0.9 grams carb.
To be safe, count each serving as 1 gram.

That's what I figured.  Have you tried sf sweet pickles?  Where do you order most of your on line stuff?

I usually count pickles as 1, even if they say 0.

I haven't tried any SF ones. Does Umpa have a recipe to make SF pickles yet?  :D

I usually order from Netrition when I order online.

Hi Beth! :)

Watch out for sweet pickles (sometimes called "cucumber slices") that you see is most stores!
They are the base for "hamburger relish" which is also sweet.
There is a reason they are sweet... :o SUGAR! :o

Always read food labels VERY carefully!

Somewhere on this forum is a post from Doug about adding sweetner to regular pickles to make your own sugar free "sweet" pickles. There is also a brand that makes a version with Splenda.

Oh, thanks, owensmath. I prefer dills, but every now and then I crave a sweet one, especially bread & butter.

I got mine from Smiths and they're the Kroger brand. I bought SF sweet relish and SF Bread & Butter pickles. I went to another store afterwards and saw Mt. Olive SF pickles and relish, too.

The jar says 0 carbs, but everything online is saying 1 carb.  ???
