Title: Pudding question ...
Post by: Rena on September 17, 2011, 03:36:22 PM
I'm curious which is better ...

"Faux" pudding made with heavy cream (0 carbs), unsweetened cocoa (0 carbs), and a bit of sweetener

...... or ......

A cup of sugar-free pudding (11 carbs)

The faux pudding might be 0 carbs, but it's about 130 calories. That is, IF I can stop at eating just one serving, which I am OBVIOUSLY having serious self-control issues with. The SF pudding (Snack Pack) is only 60 calories, even though it has 11 carbs.

Now if I HAVE the extra carbs to spare, it seems like it would make more sense to eat the SF pudding over the cream, right? I'm talking about myself here and being so close to my goal weight. I do understand this wouldn't be the case if someone was in the early stages of losing weight and needing their carb counts low to stay in a fat-burning mode.

But when you're as close as I am, which is the HEALTHIER choice?

I think in your case the cup for 60 would be better but will you stop at one of those ? ;D

That's just it -- they're sold in 4-packs, so I'd have to eventually. Haha!

Yeah after 44 carbs 240 calories later and you would feel like crap from all the carbs and sugar . LOL

Maaaaaaybe ...

I would at least hope so, so I wouldn't do it again. I did, however, have a piece of birthday cake last night and felt just fine. Haha! It was my first piece of real, sugary-filled cake in a whole YEAR. The world didn't end ... I was so surprised.  :D

I would love to make umpas cinnamon rolls but that is way to complicated for me plus you need space which I dont have . Hey Umpa can you make me some & mail them to me ?? ;) ;)

That's the problem ...

I make a single serving.

Then I make another single serving.

And another ...  :D

I like the idea of moving to a new dessert. I'm good now because I'm really low on cream and I like it in my coffee. I don't have enough to make pudding today and payday isn't until Wednesday. So, maybe the world didn't end eating the birthday cake, but Wednesday is a L-O-N-G ways away! Ha! I'm just kind, of course. Kindasortamaybe!  ;)

Hi Rena! :)

You're right!... The world won't end if you eat high carb stuff.
But it could cause a sugar detox relapse and/or a gain... Or, at best, a weight loss (http://www.fattoskinny.com/) slow down.
Be careful tempting fate... You are sooooo close to your goal!

As far as what to do with foods we're tempted to eat too often;
for perishables, freeze those single servings.
For non-perishables, store them somewhere you normally don't look for food.

We have a couple of enclosed storage cabinets in the garage.
This is where we keep those SF candies and other very tempting treats.
It seems to work!... Out of sight. Out of mind. ;)
