Preferred Stores
« on: March 24, 2011, 11:21:02 PM »
I'm looking for input, as to which stores, online or whatever, that have the best prices, selection etc...of products for the lifestyle.  We are loving it but can't find some things locally that we would like to add to our pantry.  I'm just curious what you all have found when shopping for low or no carb foods.

Hi Rich,

I live in northwestern Montana and don't have a lot to choose from here. I end up shopping at just about all the stores around -- Super 1, Albertsons, Smiths, Walmart, and local shops. The good news is that they're all close to each other and on the way home from my husband's work, so that's convenient. I've found some stores carry certain things I like -- such as Walmart/Albertons for the almond milk I love and Smiths for the CARBmaster yogurts. It's a bit of a pain, but it's worth it.

I also order from www.netrition.com -- they have a lot of selection, too.

Hi Richie,
I've been doing a LOT of shopping lately, looking for ingredients that will work well for my new life.  Don't know what you have near you, but I have found that Sprouts, Sunflower Market, and Vitamin Cottage have a lot of what I needed.  I found Almond Meal and Soy Flour really cheap at Vitamin Cottage, Sprouts and Sunflower usually have bulk bins which are fabulous for nuts, occasionally soy flour, etc.  All of them also have a huge selection of Stevia products as well as Xylitol and Erythritol.  Don't know if you have any of those near you, hopefully that helps!  And check out the recipes on here - there are a ton of really fabulous looking ones, and then you're not searching for the mixes (pancake, etc.).  Oh yeah - and it's FRIDAY! YAY! :) :)

Hi Richie! :)

For low (or zero) carb shirataki noodles, also check:

http://www.asianfoodgrocer.com/category/shirataki-noodles (VERY CHEAP here!)
http://www.konjacfoods.com/index.htm
http://www.shiratakinoodles.net/where-to-find.html
http://www.miraclenoodle.com/miracle-noodle-all-products.html

And of course Amazon.com, search "Shirataki Noodles".

Sorry I forgot about the noodles - I found them in the fridge area at both Sprouts and Sunflower Market.

I live in Florida and everything is available at our local grocery store called Publix or our Super Walmart. I haven't had to order anything yet and if in doubt I hit Whole Foods.

Don't forget Richie most store managers will order what you need .If they carry the brand like Bobs red mill ,walden farms ,snyders , etc it is no big deal. ;)
