Halloween always ends our time in the mountains of western North Carolina and kicks off our bass fishing contest in Alabama. Last year Umpa took first prize with a nice 7 pound large mouth. This year I'm going to kick her $@*& :) We'll be in the woods on the lake for about three weeks battling it out. One things for sure....we'll eat fried bass coated with ground pork rinds cooked over an open fire EVERY night for the next three weeks and love every bite! Our cell phones act as Wi FI hot spots so we'll check in now and again to see how you all are doing. ;)

It was a blustery day out on the lake today but after we hunted for the fish at some of our favorite spots we finally found them. As the day wore on and the fisherman battled it out UMPA came out victorious with the biggest fish of the day! Of course we still have many days left :)

Its so windy and cold here!!I thought I was sunburned but nope its wind burn! Won't stop me from fishin though! :D

A 5 gallon bucket half full of Bass makes for a delicious pile of fillets!

Of course eating them is the biggest prize of all! We enjoyed a fried bass dinner last night coated with pork rinds, with an Italian Stuffed Zucchini squash and tarter sauce made with mayo and chopped green olives

It was a Kick Butt day on the lake today caught some nice fish....The good news is I caught the tying fish in our Bass battle.....Umpa and I are now tied for first place..... ::)

And don't worry Doug!... There are always at least a few rod-bustin' lunkers around.
When the bass are active, just be sneaky and show 'em something they haven't seen before... Then lookout!

Well, after 3 weeks battling it out in the Alabama wilderness, after catching hundreds of fish and enjoying tremendous dinners including Marty's fish pie and Tony's Baked fish Parmesan our fishing contest is over.
In the end the results couldn't have been better, Umpa and I tied for first place! 8)
With a freezer full of Bass Fillets it's time to return to the Florida Keys where salt water fish await the on slought of the Doug and Umpa fishing team.
Look out Grouper....here we come! 8)

She removed all her posts so the recipe is gone.It was like shepherds pie with fish.But the fish went on the bottom. :)
