General Discussion / Re: FEELING HAPPY

Dear Morgan,
I want you to change the sentence a bit. Make it: I love me, I adore me....... I think that sounds better...with more punch.

Just a thought. What do think?

Ask Umpa / Is Bran allowed.
« on: July 20, 2012, 11:46:16 AM »
Hello Upma,

I have asked this question in general forum also. I read that gg bran bread is 80% bran. So I wanted to know that for making Indian bread can I use bran also. Besides flax seeds and soya flower and powder.
Doug has given a recipe which I think will be very useful.
Thanks for all the help.

All the best friend.
I also travel a lot. Both for work and for my passion which is wildlife photography....which takes me to the wildest India with no electricity and mobile connection. Earlier I used to have chips on the safari. Now Last time I kept Almonds and other nuts. And seeds.
So make sure always to have nuts and seeds to fight any craving you may have. And in your country you will find a store everywhere.
Also keep cans of diet soda. That is if you have a craving for something sweet these comein handy.
I am also new on this site and am learning everyday.

Please avoid anything unnatural. And I know people who lost weight quickly for first 3 odd months after the surgery and then gained a bit or it plateaued. So even with a smaller stomach one will need the right way to eat. And problem is only carbs. Our carb intake has increased while physical activity has dropped.  Earlier during our great grand fathers time they used to walk from one village to another. There were no taps. So they used walk to village well with buckets. Today if I have to go to my local market I take out a car. So while we need less carbs we are eating more with all the fast foods.
Today a friend dropped in with his 7 and 9 year old daughters. It was easiest for me to order pizzas for them with coke and garlic bread. And when they were leaving I gave them a choclate each as a gift. Later I was thinking what will happen to the next generation.
So in this era of desk jobs we need to drastically cut on carbs.

Hi.
I have also had such experiences. My previous attempts at diet control failed because of some negative people around. In the end I have decided to take control of things. I realised they are not actually friends. Most of my hobbies are outdoors like wildlife photography. One real friend told me Sumeet (thats my name) your happiness will not be enhanced by more money you make but by getting fitter. That is when I got serious. Tell such negative friends that you are not available for a year. Ask them if they want you to die young or have heart problems or BP etc. Tell them that if they really are friends then they should support you. I now go out with friends who will stop me if I try to cheat. You have to take tough decisions.
I need to lose just 30 pounds more. I keep myself motivated by visualising what lies beyond the three months it should take. A slimmer, fitter, more attractive me. Thats what keeps me going. Though I just started under a month back.
All the best friend.

Hello everybody.
I started around a month back and its going great. I have lost something like 13-14 pounds. But I now I have started missing bread...specially the Indian bread called roti. GG bran bread or la tortilla factory products are not available in India. I wanted to know what products  I can use to make some kind of Indian bread. Most of the recommended stuff  are not available. Can I use Wheat bran, soya flour, soya protien powder and maybe 10% normal wheat flour to do so? I am not sure of the counts. Flaxseed powder is also available.
Please help.
Thanks.

General Discussion / Are cherries allowed?
« on: June 19, 2012, 01:04:58 PM »
I have just started this diet from yesterday. I have gone through the book thoroughly. I am from India and strawberries and other berries are not available in this season. In this season we get cherries. Can I have them.
My second question is if I can have nuts as snacks. I travel a lot for work. I can carry almonds, cashewnuts and other nuts with me. Please advice.
