Tracking Carbs
« on: April 18, 2013, 03:35:35 PM »
OK, it is time for me to start seriously tracking my carbs.  I was wondering if anyone has found a good website or app for doing this.  Most of what I have found is focused on tracking calories not carbs.

I know I can use paper and pencil, but my smartphone is always on my hip, and I don't usually carry paper and pencil with me.  Therefore I would like something that I can bring up on my phone and enter my meals.  I know you guys are good for some awesome suggestions.  Thanks.

Mark

I personally like www.fitday.com (I would think you can do this from your smartphone or computer).  You can enter your foods and you get a clear breakdown of carbs (and everything else).  Very easy to use, read and understand.  There is also a tab at the top that I love called "reports" which shows you where you fall in all of your daily nutritional requirements.

Hi, Mark! :)

Like Kim, I've been using FitDay.

Although like most websites (and tracking tools), the emphasis is on calories.
But you can also track just your net carbs by adding a report to the "food digest"
that gives you "total carbs minus (-) fiber" to get net carbs.

I also use paper and pencil.... Don't have a smartie phone! ::)
I record what I eat in a pocket-size spiral notepad sitting on the kitchen counter
and transcribe everything the following morning to FitDay.
If I go out, I keep the notepad in my pocket for quick access.

This system has worked for me! ;)

You would think that a man who has spent about 1/3 of his life working on computers would have a smart phone.
The reason... I don't trust them to keep my location, privacy, etc. PRIVATE!
Just a word to the wise out there. ;)

I think I will give Fit Day a shot too. I have lost 17 lbs in 8 weeks just tracking in my head and reading those label! Carbs sure are sneaky.

Hi, Joe! :)

You're off to a great start getting healthier! ;D ;D ;D

By lowering our carb (sugar) intake, we also lower our blood glucose.

Before FTS, my Fbs used to hover between 125 and 150.
Now, it's always under 100 (usually 75 to 95).

Hi Morgan  How have you been?   :)

I'm pretty sure fbs in this case is meant for fasting blood sugar.
