Title: Turtle burgers
Post by: founditatlast on July 30, 2010, 11:14:24 PM
All foods we can have.. would be cute for a childrens' party...

Handmade ground beef patties, topped with sharp cheddar cheese, wrapped in a bacon weave, then the next step, add hotdogs as the heads, legs with slits for toes and tail.

Next step.  Place on an oven rack, covered loosely with foil and baked for 20-30 minutes at 400 degrees.  A little crispy, not too crunchy...just how a turtle should be, no?

I thought it was cute, Beebs... I like ground beef, bacon, cheddar and hot dogs... My sister is a turtle fanatic so thinking of making these for a B-day BBQ for her.  They look a little big for children... but the idea is cute.... anything to get the little rug rats to eat!

LOL... if that bothers you, just leave the hot dog parts off and it is a bacon cheese burger w/o the bun!

I like the idea of using cocktail wieners for the extremities.  Makes it more manageable for everyone, not just kids.  After all... there is portion control to consider.
Beebs, I think you need to broaden your horizons!!

While looking for low-carb flavored syrups I found this website www.naturalflavors.com (http://www.naturalflavors.com). They sell low-carb syrups, I would imagine equal to Torani or DaVinci for $7.99 for 32 ounces. They even carry cantaloupe syrup! Lots of low-carb products including Xylitol in liquid as well as powder. Xanthan Gum is $12.50 a pound. Umpa/anyone, are these good prices? These items are somewhat foreign to me so I don't have anything to compare them with. The blue cheese and jalapeno stuffed olives look amazing, but I couldn't find any nutritional stats for those on their web page. They even sell a snow cone ice shaver for $5.99 along with all the syrups. I'm squeezing the last bit of life out of summer with our 95 degree weather -- Banana Foster or pina colada snow cones anyone?  :P

I think the best price for price comparison is amazon.com just remember alot of the time its case pricing.I get my sugar free syrups at TJ Max,Big Lots or walmart. The cantalope sounds devine.I love snowcones and I also use the snowcone flavors for popscicles for my grandson.$5.99 is cheap for the snowcone machine I would have bought it!The syrups and snowcone flavors are also great for frostings. ;)
