Title: Low Carb Halloween
Post by: o0OSusieO0o on October 28, 2014, 08:38:12 PM
I've some baking to do, my grandson coming over on Thursday to carve pumpkins with Mary. She has a cold, hits her like the flu and her heart races. Trying my best to get her better. We went to a Shriner's Halloween dance in Los Angeles last Friday night and I think that's where she caught a cold. Here are the costumes we wore.

People could not believe we were wearing wigs when they first looked at us. She saw a friend at the Shriner's Halloween dance, and she had not seen her since Jobs Daughters Leadership camp. Her friend did not recognize her until Mary spoke up, lol.

Poor Mary caught a cold from the dance. She is so weak and will miss Halloween activities. Her heart was racing too. She slept 20 hours night before and 12 hours last night and sounds so much better. I've been giving her vitamin C and zinc and herb tea with fresh lemon juice. She has good appetite today. No sore throat for 2 days and sinuses 80% better, only weakness now. I think not only the virus but the tachycardia she experienced 2 days ago made her this weak.
Today got her to eat a healthy meal of homemade bone marrow soup and kale/swiss chard salad.

She appreciates your well wishes for recovery. She is doing better, appetite up. She can carve pumpkins today with help. My grandson is coming over when he gets out of school.

I'm not as quick as I used to be.
But I have my moments. ;)

Mary & I received lots of compliments on our costumes, so many people were so nice. Here are the donuts I made for my grandson & my his mom, my older daughter. She ate most of them because they were not only very healthy but also had no sugar alcohols and no dairy. She is lactose intolerant. My grandson doesn't like my healthy cooking, he prefers his other grandma's high carb food.

I'm having an Avon party tomorrow, so it's a much needed sugar-free time after Halloween. Here is what I will use:

If my grandson was like my nephew I could get him to eat here. His daughter has a difficult time feeding him healthy at home.

My Avon party was fun. I am getting a butler bag as Hostess gift. Love a purse that I can organize my stuff in.

I ordered leggings and lipstick for Mary & myself,  leopard print memory foam slippers and moisturizing lip balm for me, and eye make-up primer for Mary. I also won the raffle and received a purse size cologne that I like to wear

Everyone really enjoyed the low carb spread too. Olives, red bell pepper & cucumbers, veggie tray w/ ranch dip. We drank tea sweetened with Truvia. I sauteed turkey ham chunks in coconut oil then put in fridge. Made little snacks on a tray with only a fancy toothpick going through the ham on top of a fresh pineapple chunk. I ate only 4 of those.

Ah, yes... infernal pineapple!
They used to be one of my favorite fruits.

Pineapple cravings hit me if I am within sight and smell distance of a Hawaiian pizza.
That's why I carry SF hard candies... One will usually do the trick.
Never know when strong temptation may come along.

I was never a fruit or sweets lover, always preferred dark chocolate and starchy baked or fried foods. The pineapple thankfully did not trigger any desire for sweets. I do like my low carb sweets so much better for one reason, they fill me up and do make me hungrier.
