Title: Hibiscus Mulled "Cider"
Post by: sansucre on December 22, 2011, 11:39:55 AM
The fall festivals where I live all had hot, mulled cider. I had a little taste and thought about how I could make a sugar-free mulled cider. Here is what I did and it tastes really good.

I brewed a 12 cup pot of Davidson's Organic Herbal Te de Hibiscus. Here is the link:

I brew it in a big coffee maker. Just put a coffee filter in there and then the loose tea. I would brew it a little strong because you want the rich, red color and flavor. (I drink this iced and it's awesome.) This tea is delicious plain and even better if you add a little sugar-free sweetener to taste.

Then I took the sweetened, brewed tea and poured it into a small crockpot. I added about a tablespoon of mulling spices in a metal tea strainer and let it brew for about 2 hours. A 1.5 quart crockpot is perfect for this.

It was really good and with zero carbs!

Wow! Nice! Thanks! Just what I need this cold day.  I have hibiscus blossoms that I used to make Jamica (a Mexican drink) with - I can use them with mulling spices!  :D

Umpa, sometimes if the computer has a funky connection and the browser hicups, it automatically marks all the posts as read and I have to sort through every topic to find the new stuff.

Hi Umpa! :)

Did you mean the "Show unread posts since last visit." button near the top of the page?
This is what I've been using for quite some time.

Your experience explains why I've seen quite few less posts in the last couple of weeks or so.
This morning, I see many more.
