Bear Den / Re: Oh God!... Did I Blow It Yesterday!!!

;) You are definitely not alone here.  I'm sure we all have had an occasion when doing FTS is just not feasible, desireable, do-able, etc.  Recently at my Granson's wedding, I ate.  It didn't set me back too far.  I just went right along with my FTS plans the next day.  This happens off and on for all of us.  Just don't beat yourself up about it.  You are doing great!  Look how far you've come.  You are an inspiration to us all.

Hey Guy!  Nice to hear of your better health!  I had gall bladder out the same way you did, back in 1972!  It's not fun.  You should feel good now!  Good luck!

Sides and Snacks / Re: Quick Filling Zero Carb Snack

:o :o :oooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!  Just what I need, a tin of "open" sardines in my hot car or possibly spilling a few drops of fishy smelling oil in my purse!  How would that work out sitting in the pew on Sunday morning??  LOL  I used to make my hubs eat his sardines when I wan't home, dispose of the tin in a sealed zip-lock bag and get it outside in the trash BEFORE I got home.  YUK! And use mouth wash before he kissed me hello.  There's gotta be better ways to get Omega-3.  Just sayin'  I'll stick to almonds for a snack in purses or the car.

Desserts and Sweets / Re: 0 Carb Ice Cream
« on: August 18, 2011, 06:43:25 PM »
Wonderful news!  About the ice cream.  I do miss my softy freeze!  Our Dairy Queen has a sugar free Dilly Bar (can't remember the carbs).  I also get the Bryer's CarbSmart at 4 carbs per 1/2 cup serving.  Not too bad.  I have not been able to find the Land 'O Lakes zero carb whip topping.  We don't have a Cosco.  But I do use ReddiWhip.   I got 0 sugar toppings though, so I'll try the frozen whipped cream and my new toppings.  Maybe right now!  Sounds soooo good.   ;D ;D ;D

I had a ton of fun helping bake those cakes!  The actual wedding cake was a lot of work, but well worth the effort.  Toosweet, I and her friend Mary worked very hard.  It was so funny when several guests wanted to commision us to make cakes for them (and we're not in business at all).  I think Toosweet and her friend could do it though.  Toosweet did a fabulus job on the FTS cake as well.  It was delicious.  We even took FTS cake in the camper with us all the way back through Kansas.  They dropped me off in Kansas City to pick up my car and then they went on to Sturgis.  I just love to cook and bake.  FTS has given me more than one new challenge in my life.

General Discussion / Re: It never stops surprising me!

::) What surprises me is those who say they only eat meat and salad!  They eat meat covered in gravy/breading and they pour on the high-carb salad dressings.  And fill their plate twice.  Eat fast and take huge bites and barely chewing.  They skip dessert at the dinner table and then sneak a piece of pie/cake when no-one's looking.   ???They drink a lot of wine too.  Also, they claim to be dieting at home, but eat whatever they want when they go out to a restaurant.  At 265 pounds  :o, how's that working for her/them???  ROFL  Some people just won't listen.  I don't even try to tell them.  They are my bosses.  So, I just keep on cooking all the old-fashioned foods they love and crave.  Keeps me a job.  LOL  ;D

:D Wow, Las Vegas sounds like such fun!  Not the heat though, just stay inside and play the slots, the penny ones that is.  I can entertain myself for hours and hours.  Congrats to your parents too!  Toosweet, enjoy the swiming with suzlyn and your dad.   ;D

Alex: "You 'is kind, You 'is smart, You 'is important"!!! ;D ;D ;D You are a terrific Mom!!  We Mom's do not have X-ray vision or super powers.  We just try to convince our children we do.  Now you just realize you are doing the best you can and that is all anyone could possibly ask of you.  Kids get sick.  They put things in their bodies that shouldn't go there.  You took your child to the doctor, think of all the Mom's who don't.  Feel sorry for those children.  Your child will heal now.  Take good care of yourself too.  You are loved.  Get down on your knees, you'll feel better.  :)

General Discussion / Re: How Long????

:)I know I haven't lost as much weight as some of you, but I am soooo happy with what I have lost.  Almost all that belly and chubby fat is gone.  I'm still at 143.5.  I live alone so it's easy for me not to have the "bad" stuff around.  ;D  I do regular high carb cooking for a ranch.  Twice a week at noon I put a huge meal on their table for all the workers and immediately family of theirs. Mash potatoes/chicken fried stk/cream pies/home-made bread/home-made salads.  Lots and lots of carbs.  ::) I take my sugar free snacks with me, eat the meat without the gravies or breading, I eat green salads and acceptable veggies.  I stick with my own way of eating and it's working.  Munch on carrots, etc. while I'm cooking.  Keeps me from sampling.  They are all still fat/over-weight/stuffed with carbs/sluggish and sleepy after they eat and I'm small and slender and feeling great!  Thanks to Doug and Umpa!! and FTS

I started FTS when my daughter (toosweet) brought me her book in May.  I was impressed by her weight loss and started eating exactly what she ate while she was here in May for 10 days.  I lost 3" around my waist in those short 10 days and lost 8 pounds.  So, I continued.  By the time I went to see her on July 22nd, I was packing my suitcase and I could find no pants in my closet that fit!  Everything just hit the floor when I put them on.  LOL  So, I went from a size 14 down to a size 8.  AMAZING!!!  I had to go shopping!  AWWWW!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Doctor took me off Metformin and blood pressure meds!  This weight loss is great!  I am so thankful that my daughter got me started on this new way of eating/cooking/living.  I now know what my triggers are and can avoid them.  I had no idea.  FTS has worked for me!  Thank you, thank you!

General Discussion / Re: so I am not a good baker so I
« on: August 07, 2011, 10:15:17 AM »
Since I started FTS, I have practically had the One Minute Muffin everyday.   :) I've made a waffle, pancakes, bannana nut muffins, egg/cheese/sausage muffin, plain sandwich size for "lunch" bread, etc.  I have made strawberry short cake using sugar-free strawberry jam and SF jello mixed with fresh strawberries and then A squirt of whipped cream on top.  YUM!  I am a professional "scratch" cook.  I really, really miss good yeast bread and home-made pies with fruit fillings.  I can live without fresh fruit, but pies are a different story.  I have not found a yeast bread recipe that tastes good enough for me.  I've tried a couple of the FTS recipes and they went into the trash can right away along with the soy flour.  :(

General Discussion / Re: Husband and his Metformin...

Hey, this is a newbie here.  But I know that 30-40 is almost coma state!  When you are sweaty, gray skin, slurred speech, shaky, fuzzy thoughts, drink some orange juice, eat some honey, go to the emergency room!  The lowest SAFE level is 65.  Do not let your blood sugar go below that.  People can die in this condition.
