Title: I'm back...and losing again
Post by: SherriPie on October 12, 2012, 10:08:02 AM
Hi All!

Somehow over the last year I have managed to gain twenty pounds! As a lot of you know I HATE the scale and stay away from it as much as I can. Since February I have started a new job and then when my sister got gravely ill it just did me in. I didn't put on a lot at once, a few pounds here or there. So this morning I decided to give in and step on the scale. OH MY GOSH I gained TWENTY pounds. I am so upset at myself for letting that happen but I also no how to get rid of it. So I'm back to the forums I love and the people that always encourage me to do better. I have decided to go for 35 five pounds and see if I can do it by Christmas. We shall see but I am glad to be back, wish it wasn't because I'm up 20 pounds though. :(

Good to see you Sherri...sorry for the reason girl.  Life has a way of getting in the way sometimes (don't be so hard on yourself) the great thing is you have the skills to get it back off.   ;)

Thanks! I agree, it's so nice to know just what to do to get rid of it. I wish I would have stepped on the scale sooner. I hate scales! LOL

Hi, and welcome home Sherri and Michelle! :) :) :) :) :)

Life has a way of happening no matter what we do.
How we handle life's "curve balls" dictates what happens to us.

As discussed in other posts, when we go back to our "old ways", we're rewarded with our "old bodies".
Fortunately, you both caught this before it became a longer road than necessary.

You both have the knowledge that will get your weight down where you want it.
It's simply a matter of faithfully following the FTS rules. 8)

I know you guys can do it!!! :) :) :)
We're right here with you all the way!

Tony

I'm glad to be back and have learned my lesson. Next time I'll weigh in atleast monthly just to keep on top of it. I have taken all my yummy SF candies out of my diet and am doing better. I feel better already, so that's a good step. It thrills me knowing that I can lose the little I've gained, having the knowledge I've learned from FTS. I just have to do it and stay on track. :)

Hey Sherri, I know exactly what you're talking about!

It's easier this time because we already know what to do.  We'll be looking for your new success stories!

Welcome back, SherriPie  :)

I'm new in these parts, but familiar with life's hard stuff driving me off the carb cliff.

You've done this before, you'll do it again!  ;D

Hey Sherri!  I have just been maintaining all Summer, so I am ready to get back to business too!  Now I would LOVE to lose 35 by Christmas, but I know I am just not wired to lose fast like that.  Anyway...I am already counting the weeks until I turn 50 in April.  The more I can lose by then, the easier it will be to accept the big 5-0.  ha ha    :D

I just got my copy of the new updated book and saw the personal stories in the front.  As I read your individual stories, I said to myself "I have spoken with him" or "I have spoken with her" on the forum.  How cool.  I have been on this forum for a little less than a month now, but feel at home.  So welcome to all those who just recently started, and welcome back to those of you who are regulars but have taken some time away from the forum. :o

Oh Thank Goodness! I feel so much better now. (sorry Sherri  :) ) It's so good to know I am not alone with letting "the creep" happen. I am up five pounds. I maintained my Spring loss all Summer. After my Aunt died in September, followed by my Uncle, then my Cousin... within a 10 day period...  I just started getting REALLY lax.

I feel you all are like AA for carboholics. I really think I need a sponsor... because if I'm not here every day or so... I am noshing somewhere. :o  If I disappear, please look for me and reel me in! :)

Sherri I am so glad you are back on the wagon! You continue to amaze me. I would love to be 35 down by Christmas too! GREAT goal!

Love you guys!! *grouphug*

Hi Suzanne! :)

Losing family is painful.
But losing three members in such a short time is nothing short of terrible!
I've lost a number of family members and fully understand.
My heart and prayers are with you, Suzanne.

Most all of us here are carb addicts.
That's why this forum sometimes feels like AA.

Support is ESSENTIAL for most folks who are turning around a lifetime of bad ways.
We know the power of mutual love and support. And we share it here daily.
This forum is one of the reasons FTS will help you forever change your life!
We'll always be here to help and support you.

Nobody likes "creeps"! >:(
So let's band together to keep them away! :)

Tony

Hi mdanziger!  Not sure if I've had the chance to say hello to you before!  Yep....we are all REAL people! :D   I live in Gainesville, GA.  I haven't been on the forum too much over the Summer.  I am back to get inspired to get the rest of my weight off.  I love eating low carb!  I just wish I had known to eat this way 20 years ago!  Losing over 100 pounds has changed my life!!  I plan to be a low carber for life!!  Nice to "meet" you!!   :)

Maddysmom, I love that quote in your signature.  I can't count how many times I have said to myself "I wish I started this earlier."  Well, I have started now...

You know guys why don't we all lose 35 by Christmas together? We could start a group here and just do it. It could be our Christmas present to ourselves. Anyone with me?

Yikes! Is that do-able? Three and a half pounds a week? I'm still a noob on day seven, but I've only lost just shy of three pounds this week.

If you follow the program religiously you can easily lose 5 pounds a week. If you're a man you could lose a pound a day.

35 will be easy!

Knowing I'm the King of the Turtle Club, I'd ask myself "Which Christmas???".  :D ;D :D ;D :D ;D

You guys are going to do GREAT!!! :) :) :)

Even if you don't reach 35, you'll be healthier and smaller too!
That alone is a wonderful Christmas gift! 8)

Tony you crack me up!!!  :D :D

I am definitely cutting back to start my losing again, but I'm "skeered" to put a time frame on 35 pounds for me.  I have applied for membership to the turtle club myself.   :D :D

I'm not sure I can do 3.5 lbs a week either. While I stick fairly close to FTS, I'm eating more green things and that bumps my carb count up a bit over 20.

I so wish I could join you.  No matter how strict I am and I am - I usually do between 5-15carbs a day, it just doesn't drop off at such a quick rate.  I am a member of the Turtle Club along with Tony.  I am relying on the slow and steady wins the race creedo.  Good luck to you all though.

You know the turtle club is a great place to be. Slow and steady ALWAYS wins the race.  But if anyone wants to join the "lose 35 by Christmas" you can. We can turtle or race, either way we all hit the finish line. :)
