General Discussion / I never knew before getting FTS book. WOW!
« on: July 09, 2014, 03:32:26 PM »
I got the FTS book last weekend. Started to change my life this last Monday and I've become obsesed with looking at the carbs of supposed healthy and diet foods. Shocked beyond belief how unhealthy and poisonous even diet foods are. Example: Special K Red Berries cereal bars. Sure only 90 calories and 1.5G of fat (old way of thinking) but 18g of carbs plus 8g sugar. OMG that means instead of helping me eating one of these for breakfast it was actually a head start for storing fat for the day. Last night at work I came across the usual bowl of Hershey's Minitures that is on just about every desk. Tempted? Heck yeah... grabbing 2 or 3 of these while cleaning my way through the offices used to be an every night no big deal occurance. Now that I'm actually thinking, I looked up the carbs in the little devils and found 1 serving size is 5 pieces... carbs per serving...25g.  When I realized that even one piece (5g carb) is as much or more than an actual meal, that was enough for me to take a huge gulp of water and move one, leaving the candy alone. Proved to me that "one bite or one piece won't hurt" is a total falsehood.

Lunch Recipes / Low Carb Poorman's Lunch Wrap
« on: July 09, 2014, 02:43:49 PM »
I'm new here and only get paid once a month. Unfortunately I have to wait more weeks to do grocery shopping the right way so I'm very limited on my choices right now, but I'm doing it. Came up with this while inventorying what little I actually have that is low or no carb, talk about a shock when reading all the labels of supposedly healthy foods..lol

1 slice of bologna      2 net carbs

1/4 cup of Mexican four cheese blend shredded   1 net carb

1 slice of bacon    0 net carbs

Fry bacon. Place bologna on microwave safe plate. Spread cheese on bologna and place bacon slice on top. Roll up and keep in place with a tooth pick. Microwave on high for 30 seconds (adjust time according to how your microwave works) or until cheese starts to melt. let sit in microwave for 1 minute. remove and enjoy!  :D

Lean On My Shoulder / Started today

Hello everyone. I have always rode the weight roller coaster my whole life until about 6 yrs. ago when my weight balloned way up. I am 5' 3" and have been around 225 to 230 for the last 5 yrs. I need to lose weight for health ofcourse but for self esteem and have tried everything under the sun short of surgery as well as im sure most people do. I saw the FTS book at Barnes ans Noble this last weekend and read it in a couple of hours. I only get paid once a month so I cant afford to get rid of the food I do have to replace it but Im going to adjust what I do have as much as I can until next month when I can stock up on everything I need. I also want to try to help my boyfriend who was diagnosed with M.S. last year and is and extreme junk food junky. He doesnt need to lose weight but if he can fill up more on healthy low carb choices he may cut down on the junk,,lol. Also going to take my music cds out of the car and listen to FTS cd in the car whule driving to work and back as well as running errands.
