Title: 0 Carb Ice Cream
Post by: joagain on December 06, 2010, 03:33:20 PM
All you need is a Can Of SF Land O Lakes whipped cream

How To Prepare:  Take the can and shake. Open it and spray in a round, freezer proof container. Spray in a circular motion, filling in the center last. Put top on and place in freezer. Wait 2-4 hours and you have a soft serve that tases just like vanilla ice cream! You can use low carb candy and stir it in or sprinkle on top for a tasty alternative. My fave---melt low carb peanut butter and drizzle on top. Yum-o!

Number of Servings:  I put it in small bowls so they are single servings .

Carbs per serving - My whipped can is 0 carbs but redi-whip is 1 carb per serving so becareful so you know how many servings you are getting .

I put o carb Chocolate syrup on mine and it was delish !!!
If I put PB on it it is like 1-2 depending on how much I use .

I accidentally found out that you can use heavy whipping cream, add a little xylitol and whip it. Then, freeze it and it tastes like very rich vanilla ice cream. My husband keeps begging me to make it again.

It's a fun challenge. I always think to myself, "There is a way to do this. I just have to find it!" I love to take "regular" recipes from magazines and my friends ask, "Why are you doing that? You can't eat it!" I reply, "Sure, I can. I just have to change some of the ingredients to healthier ones and VOILA!!!"

I've been using the Land-O-Lakes kind, too, simply because I can buy it in 3-pks at Costco. I was surprised how much BETTER it tastes than Reddi-Whip. Must try freezing some now -- thank you!

Okay, you all are too clever. Just froze some and topped it off with a bit of sugar-free huckleberry jam. Now I know what I can put my Walden's chocolate syrup on! Before FTS, I used to use that syrup on a banana with peanut butter. Now I can use this. :)

I haven't tried this yet... But is it possible that the whipped cream should be covered?

Frost free freezers are notorious for drying things out. That's how they stay frost free.
During warm or humid times of the year, they do this the most.

You might try making this in one of those Ziploc plastic containers or Tupperware bowls with lids.

Say "NO!" to worms!!! :D :D :D

I put it in a tupperware Tony with a lid! :D :D :D But I didn't leave it in there for a hour like Jo said I left it in there overnight! It was horrible! :D :D :D :D Worms are for fishin!

That makes sense, Jo! :)

Whipped cream is just heavy cream infused with tiny air (gas) bubbles.
After a time, they'll "pop" and the whipped cream will deflate and shrink.
Ergo, cream worms!!! :D :D :D

You're right, Umpa!... Worms are for fishin'! :D :D :D

Umpa, my try at the ice cream back in December was an "epic failure" too!!!  ha ha ha   I just laughed when I read your posts today!  I just didn't have the guts to admit how terrible mine was when everyone else was saying how wonderful it was!  ha ha  Now I know what I did wrong....left it in the freezer overnight too!   :P   Ok, I will have to try this again.

Thanks guys! :) :) :)

I am going through my 2-3 week scale movement.
A pound or two here and there does add up after a while! ;)

And Jo, I've had months where I've lost only about 1.5 - 2.0 pounds.
As long as it's a loss and not a gain, I'm happy!!! ;D ;D ;D

And yes Jan... I'm having a load of FUN!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

WORMS? OMG! The #1 thing I despise most.

And LOL at you all. Like Jo, mine barely even got frozen before I ate it. It's better when it's stiff on the outside and still soft in the middle anyway. ;)

Seriously though, I stopped buying whipped cream. Like peanut butter, it's too tempting for me. WHEN I lose all my weight and reach my goal, then maybe ...

Just fixed this for the first time last night with the Land O Lakes topping.  Topped it with a small amount of SF chocolate and an 1/8 tsp of chopped pecans.  Hubby and I loved it.  Will make this again, using any of the suggestions you all made in earlier posts.  Yummmmmmy!  This forum is the bomb!  I'm anxious to try the heavy whipping cream idea too.   8)
P.S.  I watched the clock and could hardly wait for it to freeze LOL.

Wonderful news!  About the ice cream.  I do miss my softy freeze!  Our Dairy Queen has a sugar free Dilly Bar (can't remember the carbs).  I also get the Bryer's CarbSmart at 4 carbs per 1/2 cup serving.  Not too bad.  I have not been able to find the Land 'O Lakes zero carb whip topping.  We don't have a Cosco.  But I do use ReddiWhip.   I got 0 sugar toppings though, so I'll try the frozen whipped cream and my new toppings.  Maybe right now!  Sounds soooo good.   ;D ;D ;D
