Scott in Florida - 31 weeks - experiment results
« on: April 06, 2011, 08:13:41 AM »
Last week I had a small gain in weight due to a couple of factors (you can read the "30 week" post for details). For this week, I did an experiment - no protein bars.  Earlier (several months ago) I found a protein bar that only had like 5 carbs, and I would eat one occasionally as a meal replacement.  That became more often and eventually they became like a snack.  The problem is, they are loaded with sugar alcohols.  My weight loss slowed down to a pound or so per week.

So, for a week I have had none of them.  Result: 4.6 pounds gone this past week.  Needless to say, no more protein bars for me!  Who knows how much farther along I would be now if I had never eaten one.  They are evil, evil I say!

Hope you guys have a great week!

It is Sooooo important to continue reviewing our intake to see where we can tweak. The 5 extra carbs and the way the sugar alcohols used in Scott's bars affected his body are obvious. Well done Scott!

WTG Scott!!! ;D ;D ;D

Bad habits are easy to form and tough to break.

Protein bars, SF candy, or any other food that is high in sugar alcohols seem to be easy to overdo.
We need to be very careful of not allowing old bad habits to come back under the guise of "low carb is ok".
Sweets are for OCCASIONAL use only!!!

Also, I've noticed that sometimes a very minor change in eating habits will sometimes start the scale moving faster.
I can't confirm if, sometimes, this is just coincidence.
But I do know that a "change up" will very often get things going.
What you do today is what matters!
