Saw this on DR. OZ.
What do you folks think? How can we make this better, as I hav'nt tried it.
 Dr. Oz Shepherd's Pie
 
Ingredients
Serves 2
 
10 cups cauliflower florets, steamed soft
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp unrefined virgin coconut oil, divided (more or less if needed)
2 cups roughly chopped broccoli florets
1 small bok choy, roughly chopped (about 2 cups)
8 oz poached chicken, diced
Freshly ground pepper
 
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400°F degrees. Purée the cauliflower, 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1 tablespoon of the coconut oil in a blender until very smooth. set aside. In a medium pan sauté the broccoli for 2 minutes in 2 teaspoons of coconut oil, until lightly browned and starting to soften a bit. Transfer to a bowl and cook the bok choy for 2 minutes, in the same pan, adding a little more of the coconut oil if necessary, until starting to brown. Transfer bok choy to the bowl with the broccoli. Add the diced chicken, 2 cups of cauliflower purée, 1/2 teaspoon salt and freshly ground pepper and gently toss. Transfer mixture to a 4 cup baking dish, top with the remaining cauliflower purée and bake for 20 minutes until hot and bubble. If you like to brown the top a bit, broil for a few minutes after baking.

Looks OK, jetfan! :)

Just count the carbs in the veggies.
And, watch the portion sizes.

Adding bacon would do wonders! ;) ;) ;)

Dr Oz can eat my shorts, I'll my Shepherd Pie recipe from the page 154 of the original FAT TO SKINNY Fast And Easy book  ;)

Shepherd’s Pie

INGREDIENTS
Olive oil
Ground beef
Chopped onion
Ricotta cheese
Shredded Cheddar cheese
Shredded Mozzarella cheese
Cauliflower
Butter
Mayonnaise
Salt & pepper to taste

Heat one tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet.  Brown ½ cup of chopped onions and ¾ pound of crumbled ground beef until cooked.  Salt and pepper beef to taste and strain, and then set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine one cup of ricotta cheese, ½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese, and ½ cup of mozzarella cheese. Place ½ of the cooked ground beef and onions into a casserole dish.  Layer, on top of the meat, ½ of the cheese, then cauliflower (“mashed”) potatoes (recipe below),then  the remaining meat, and then cover all of it with a final layer: the remaining cheese. Bake uncovered in 350-degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes.

Cauliflower (“mashed”) potatoes Prepare “mashed potatoes” by steaming a head of cauliflower in a couple of inches of water until fork tender. Drain cauliflower and place into food processor with a chopping blade. Add two tablespoons of your favorite mayonnaise, one tablespoon of Benacol spread or butter, and salt & pepper. Process until smooth.

I prefer doug's recipe.  Since when is 'shepherds pie' made with cauli, broc, bok choy and chicken?  Shepherds would never be able to get the ingredients  ;)

Traditionally I think it was made with mince lamb, whatever vegetables were around and topped with mashed potato.

Doug in my FTS  book it is on page 216.
I never had Shepherd pie.
Hey Morgan, I LOVE Lamb. But, it can be quite expensive.

Same recipe in the red cover book ;-) Morgan you are correct OZ used the wrong ingredients. Shepherd pie is a famous old wold recipe ;-)  Gottta keep it as real as possible

Most these guys who seek maximum fame for maximum bucks think that they're the second coming.
Overinflated ego is a symptom of this behavior.

This last nine pounds is has been VERY stubborn. But that does not phase me in the least.
I'm so happy with my new found health and energy levels, I'll be eating the FTS way the rest of my life! ;D

I so love helping and watching other good people get healthy.

Hi Shercat! One of my favorites! You can use other meats too,not just ground beef ;)
