I avoid omelets and scrambled eggs at restaurants. Fried only. I know they put stuff in the eggs to make them fluffy - like pancake mix. I try to go online to get a nutrition guide for the restaurants we go to and ask the waiter or waitress to make sure I don't get any flour or sugar or starch.

I'm just in the dumps today.  I'll go watch a good murder mystery and then I'll feel better.

So far I've had
3 oz. chicken breast dipped in egg and dredged in bbq pork skin crumbs, fried in peanut oil and butter
1 cup half-rotten spring mix (yum)
1/2 tablespoon ranch dressing - <1 carb
1 omelet muffin consisting of 1/2 egg, 1/2 piece of Canadian bacon (1/6 gram of carb) 2 tablespoons sharp cheddar cheese shredded, crushed red pepper flakes, 4 pieces of jalapeno pepper and 1 teaspoon bell pepper chopped
2 cups of decaf with 2 tablespoons of cream

Sarah, You've gotten lots of good advice from the answers here but after looking at your food list it doesn't really look to far out of line. Carbs in the cream maybe a few extra veggies here and there. Portions seem in line.....  :-\ are you on any meds?

Sarah, question....how tall are you, how much do you actually weigh, and are you a busty lady?

Do you drink alcohol at all?

Doug, I'm 5'8", 204, busty, big bones, no meds, no alcohol.  I want to get to 165, which is a good weight for me, despite what the charts say - any thinner and I begin to look gaunt. I'm 60 years old. Post menopausal. No doctors (before someone suggests it - I watched them prey on my parents for 15 years and I'm not having it).

I'm re-reading the book tonight.

Thanks Sarah, this gives me a better idea of what what you're up against. I'd like to ask you how you feel since starting FTS...energy level, moods (other than sad from the plateau) sleeping well (full 8 hours) etc...

My energy level is up, although, not through the roof. I'm normally a very steady, level-mooded, patient, cheerful person, but I've been a little emotional, impatient and even quite cranky lately, which I think is from my lack of success at losing weight - it rules my world right now - I know you understand. Yesterday I felt all out-of-sorts, you may have noticed. I've been swearing and that only pops up when I'm REALLY frustrated.

When I have trouble sleeping (it happens when I'm upset), I take an otc sleeping pill - I didn't think about when you asked if I take meds. It's Advil pm - the generic form and usually I only take 1/2 pill. Lately I've been waking up at around 4 a.m. and can't get back to sleep, so I took a whole pill for a couple days and then went back to the 1/2. Last night I took 1/2 and sure enough, woke up at 4 this morning - I tossed and turned until I fell asleep again - it didn't take too long as I didn't hear the clock strike 5. The night before I woke up at 4 and just watched TV for a couple hours until I fell asleep again. Groggy wake up at 7:30.

Have you tried melotonin? Try 5 milligram duel release. A good nights sleep on a consistant basis absolutly helps weight loss.
