Title: doctor visit
Post by: owensmath on August 11, 2010, 07:30:59 PM
I had to go to the doctor yesterday. I had my first (and hopefully LAST) plantar wart. He cut it out of my foot, but that's another story.... The main thing about the visit was related to my weight. I had been there on July 1st to get my hA1C results (dropped from 11 to 6.4, remember?). Well, he said, "Wow, you've lost 9 pounds since your last visit!" I was really pleased and told him, "I told you! I'm not going to stay fat and I'm not going to have diabetes for much longer! I've lost 25 pounds so far." He corrected me! He said, "Actually, Donna, you've lost 50 pounds from your highest weight in the last two years." OMG, I didn't realize that! I was rejuvenated and so encouraged when I left. He told me that a lot of his patients are told the same things by him that I was, but they don't make any lifestyle changes so he has very few success stories. I turned and said, "Well, I am going to be a BIG SUCCESS STORY!"

My blood sugars dropped to normal and near normal numbers within a few weeks of living this lifestyle. I will tell you, though, that I was also taking medication. HOWEVER, my numbers dropped so quickly and wonderfully that my doctor was literally amazed. SO, that tells you that it was more than the medication. It is definitely due to this lifestyle.

WTG!!  Isn't it nice to go to the Dr's. and get praise instead of feeling guilty because your blood sugars and blood pressure are up.  I too had instant success with both of these going down and walked out of my Dr's. office on Friday with a smile on my face.  Lets just hope they start cutting back on our meds and eventually take none.  This new way of life is amazing!  When I followed the eating plan set up for me my the Canadian Diabetic Association's dietitian, she kept telling me I needed more carbs.  She wanted me to eat 2 slices of whole grain bread for lunch.  It just seemed wrong.  My weight kept creeping up and so were my blood sugars, it seemed like a losing battle.  I know my brother-in-law found the same thing but has also changed to the FTS lifestyle and has also had great success with his blood sugars.   So this does work!!

Keep up the good work.  You are an inspiration to us all.

I'm not surprised at your diabetic docs recommendation about increasing carbs....remember they don't make any money if your diabetes goes away!  >:( >:( >:( I see this sort of thing all the time and it really ticks me off...!
