General Discussion / Enjoying your Florida Sunshine!!
« on: March 02, 2012, 09:09:31 PM »
We left the north in a snowstorm and have been in Florida for a week and are loving the warm sun.  Before I left home I tried on my shorts (size 6) from last summer and they were tight so I left them home and only brought shorts and capris that I had that were size 8.  Well I have been very careful with what I have been eating since it has been a lot of restaurants and dinner with friends but I know what I can and can't eat and also brought stuff to do my own breakfasts.   I also brought my wraps and pitas in case I need them.

Today I had to go out shopping and get new shorts and capris size 6.  How fun to go on vacation and lose weight.  Gotta love Fat to Skinny!!

Momofone there must be something wrong with the Ticker Factory website.  I went on it and tried to get a code to copy and paste and it wouldn't let me either.  So it's not your computer, it's at there end.  Try again in a few days.  When you put in your PIN you will see to the right of it, get code.  When you click on that the BB # should appear.  Keep trying.  Hopefully they fix it.  We all love to watch our tickers go down.

Breads and Crackers / Re: Garlic Parmesan Flax Seed Crackers

Oh you found the cracker recipe MomOFone.  This is the one I was trying to tell you about.  A pizza cutter works great.  I do it before I bake the crackers and then I can just snap off the crackers when they are done.

Now that everyone is loving the OMM you have to try the recipe as pancakes.  In the recipe where I say a splash of heavy cream, I put in enough to make the batter somewhat pourable.  Let me know how you like this.  Always seems like a treat to me.

Too expensive for Canadians to order from Amazon.com.  We get charged all kinds of taxes and duty plus shipping is more to Canada from the US.

ES15 I buy the Now Brand Almond Flour (10oz/284g) for $7.99 and the Golden Flax Meal (1 Lb bag) $1.99.  I get them at my local health food store.  Not the grocery store.  The Flax Meal was in the refrigerated section, the Now Brand Almond Flour was on the shelf.

I did order the Now Brand one time from well.ca with free shipping but at that time it was out of stock at my health food store.  http://well.ca/products/now-foods-almond-flour_19743.html.

Check online and you should be able to find a health food store in your area as well as check out what all flours they have at the Bulk Barn.

Umpa
What brand of almond, flaxseed and soy flour do you typically use and appoximatley how much does it cost/what size of bag. I'm doing some shopping around online but I have no baseline to compare it too.

Ok this might be a stupid question but can you puree whole almonds or flax seeds into flour and make your own? If so is this more cost effective?

I buy my Now Brand Almond Flour and store packaged Golden Flax Meal (found in the refrigerator.  Don't buy organic...too expensive) at my local health food store.  Soy flour I and other baking flours I get from the Bulk Barn.  I keep it all in my freezer so it stays fresh.

Very good Umpa, thank you.  Enjoying my winter off work.  I've been very busy helping my daughter with her wedding plans, but we're having fun with it.  Hubby & I are heading to the sunny south the end of Feb.  Can't wait, it's snowing out today but we have had a wet rainy winter so far.

General Discussion / Re: Anyone else from Canada
« on: January 28, 2012, 09:52:14 AM »
Hi there ES15.  Yes, I am the token Canadian, but there are a few more here as well.  I live in the Niagara Region in Southern Ontario, very close to the US border and still find most of what I need here in Canada.  My favourite place to shop is the Low Carb Grocery in Markham.  Check out their website www.lowcarbgrocery.com.  Mostly everything mentioned on this forum is available there (except for yogurt).  Shipping is $7.99 unless your order is over $100 then it's free.  They are excellent to deal with.  Everything else I find in my local grocery stores and health food store.  If you need help with anything, just ask.  It has been almost 1 year since I reached my goal weight.  Once you get in the swing of things you will love this program and all of the forum members.  So good luck on your journey to a new you!!

So glad you are back ladyluck.  Between the Low Carb Grocery ( www.lowcarbgrocery.com ) and my regular stores, I don't have any problem finding the products I need here in Canada.  It won't take you long to get back into the swing of things.  It has almost been 1 year that I have kept my weight off.  This does work!
