Weeks 25, 26, 27 & 28 - Working Scales (at last)
« on: November 05, 2012, 03:31:07 PM »
Hi all, just putting in my monthly progress.  After what seems like ages at a plateau, with doug's advice and everyone's help and support the scales are finally moving again.  Yay.  The first 2 weeks of this month were still a stall but the following 2 I lost a total of - drum roll please - 6lb (consigned to the universe to find a home other than on me - I mean it has to go somewhere doesn't it  ;) ?).

On the plus side, I did away with sugar alcohols and most sweetners (only the bit in sugarfree sauce I had and the drop of zero in some cream). So no sweets, treats or soft drinks.  Carbs averaged about 10/day.   On the down side though, I did notice a tendancy to eat more (and no, water didn't cut it) - as in before sometimes 2 meals a day saw me through - the last 2 weeks it was always 3.  I obviously have a need somewhere inside of me that needs working through.  Truly, I'm starting to believe a weight issue is not necessarily all about weight.

I'm really happy for you, Morgan.  You've really made tons of progress and not all of it on the scales.  You should be VERY PROUD of yourself.

Hi Morgan and congrats on getting things moving!!! ;D ;D ;D

When our bodies need something, it often feel like hunger for food.
For example, not drinking enough water often will feel like hunger.

If the craving to eat more than you should continues, you might want to look deeper.
After three weeks on your new plan, you should know if further investigation is warranted.

Early on in my FTS journey, I started to feel "hunger" even when I knew I should not be hungry.
But after I started taking vitamin B complex each day, that false hunger went away.
Among others, vitamin D deficiency is also known to cause false hunger.

If you're not, take a vitamin/mineral supplement (e.g. Centrum) every day.
If that doesn't do it, try adding another vitamin (like B complex, C, D, etc.).

Hi Morgan, is'nt it amazing how simple "tweaking" can make such a difference. I remember how frustrated you were.  ;)

Morgan, way to go. I am stuck right now and have been for past 2 months so reading "your issues" over past few weeks of your posting will hopefully help me break this for me as well ::)  way to go

Hope you manage to work through your 'issues' too stephanie.  It's the pitts isn't it.  You do everything what you think is right and still zilch.  Especially when you see some of the forum just literally dropping weight all over the place.  Reading past posts is a great help and you realise you are not the only one going through this stuff.  good luck  ;)

It took me 17 months to get to my goal weight.  My longest plateau was 3 months.

Just sayin'.  It was worth waiting for.

Its usually something silly that messes people up. Like condiments or nuts. You really have to pay attention to what you are eating ;)

Yep I believe nuts has a hold on me at the moment...LOL  I have gotten too used to eating them.  Seems my servings have grown some how too  :-\  It's always good to keep checking what you are doing.  Hang in there  :)

I am so type A , I weight nuts when I eat them, and measure everything with measuring cups. I carry a tablespoon measuring spoon in my pocketbook for half and half when I go out or salad dressing. I am crazy strict that's what is frustrating but I am really opening my eyes to being extremely careful about when I eat and why I am eating... : / not sure what else to do but hang tough

I don't think I am a Type A, but I weigh/measure everything I eat.  I have never fallen off the fts wagon so to speak.  I allowed myself  2 drinks of Bailey's on my birthday and that's the only divergence I have had.   So I understand your frustration (boy, do I).  You follow instructions to the letter and 'nothing'.  I just plod along and now have to tweak.  That's why I am a member of the Turtle Club with Tony (mouseissue) as our leader.  Slow and steady wins the race (it better!!!!!!!!).  Just as well I am renown for my patience.   ;)

Turtle club members always cross the finish line and stay in the game. That's a great place to be Morgan. Congrats on tweaking it all and losing again. As Doug says, it's basic math. If you aren't losing then sugar is getting you somewhere. Easy to say but when that plateau hits and you can't get that darn evil scale to move...it is the worst! You've got this....congratulations on getting it working again. :)
