Title: Doug! Your tuna rolls!
Post by: maidmarian on July 04, 2013, 05:56:08 PM
I want to make the hot and spicy tuna rolls! I watched you make them on YouTube. They look delicious! I could eat 20 of those...I watched it and now I am starving! I already have Noriega sheets, green onion and asparagus in the house but nothing else. Tell me where do I find such nice raw tuna to use for these?  How many of them can I eat?

Buy your mahi from a good seafood section of your local market or buy flash frozen from the freezer section. Thae carbs are very low so eat as many as you wish to fill you up. I don't think you'll eat more than one roll though...very filling :)

I live shellfish but became allergic to it as an adult. These would be great with shrimp. I think you are from where I am from on the East coast. Now I am in the West. These look amazing. Can't wait to make them and eat all I want! Have to get some fresh cauliflower. Is there another veg that would work for rice too? I can dip these in tamari. I had another funny typo. I meant that I have NORI sheets in my cupboard!

Mary has tried this vegetarian style and with cooked meat, she never liked the seaweed. She said she would eat it again if it could be made with kale. Any ideas?

Hi all, so I finally bought the tools and made my sushi.  Made it with fake crab sticks, avacado and tomato slices.  Also tried with cucumber sticks.  I have to admit here that I did use sushi sticky rice on the outside of the nari.  Watched youtube on how to do this.  Yes, more sugar, but couldn't resist.  Sorry all FTS folks...sniff....  And, the way you eat this sushi is p[lacing a whole slice in your mouth and not cutting into it, because the nari does not cut well.  But, saying all of this, I am going to try the cauliflour/philly 4oz cheese and spices and try putting that on the outside of the nari like the California rolls.  I tried puttng everything inside the first time, but there was too much Nari in my mouth all at once and I didn't wait for the sticky rice to cool down so it melted the nari slighly.

Another trick is to put the clear cling wrap around the bamboo wrap so nothing sticks to it.  They show it in all of the you tubes.  Also, my two asian friends at work said they use the cling wrap all the time.  I was so excited that I could do this and they were looking at me funny cause this is a staple in their home, like pasta is in mine.  Now I don't have to go out and buy it as they charge lots of money for sushi at the supermarkets.

Brought the sushi to work and shared with a few folks and they loved itl
