Doug or Umpa (question)
« on: April 22, 2011, 12:25:53 PM »
So, I not only have cut sugar out, but I have also cut on fat as per my Dr.. What I find is that if you cut both, then the product is not that tasty.. The Dr says that SUGAR is the worst of both evils and if it has some fat is ok...He really just doesnt want me to eat anything fried.. I have actually gotten use to eating without the sugar and using Pam when I cook.. I normally grill or bake and very cautious in the ingredients I use...

I am on a restrictive plan and I have limited my calories to 1400 a day.. I know that the cook book shows the carbs, but how can I calculate my fat intake..

I really would like to maybe cook a chocolate cake to take to my Dr since I have spoken so much about F2S, but I have yet to really bake anything... any suggestions..

***1400 cal has assisted me in portion control...

BTW: my daughter has lost 18 lbs.... yay

We don't calculate fat grams in our program Alex. I think common sense comes into play with much of how we eat when it comes to fat content. For instance I use olive oil versus lard for many recipes.I like the taste of a good extra virgin oil and a little goes a long way.Same with butter, cooking with olive oil then a drizzle of melted butter on top keeps the fat content pretty reasonable without sacrificing flavor. Meat fats are cut off at eating time, chicken skin is removed for some recipes, for others it's not. As far as frying is concerned,if you deep fry at the proper temperature your food will retain very little oil.
