Title: what would you do
Post by: bevxx on June 13, 2010, 02:58:21 PM: i'm taking medication that causes high prolactin in me...therefore no periods...the psychiatrist suggests i should halve dosage...but that would bring back symptoms of illness as i have been on lower dose already...i said no thanks..the g.p. and psychiatrist are now going to have a little chat to discuss the matter :(...xx

Post by: bevxx on June 13, 2010, 06:53:42 PM: sorry beebs that you did'nt understand..its a drug for schizophrenia and it causes some side effects..one maybe high prolactin a chemical in the brain.. so it can cause lactation/milk production...or...amnerroea ..i can't spell that..it means loss of menstruation....or no periods...i hadn't heard about it untill i was put on the drug..xx

Post by: bevxx on June 14, 2010, 04:48:34 AM: ;D i just googled it..its not available here...anyway the meds i'm taking at the moment gets rid of the voices and stuff...its the best i've been prescribed over the 23 years i've had this diagnosis...it just could give you cancer if prolactin levels are high for too long....i was messed about with my meds about 5 years ago ..the psychiatrist at the time nearly killed me..i've just not long ago been reasigned the same doctor...it was an interim psychiatrist who sorted me out with this drug in 2008..we can't pick and choose with our n.h.s doc's...and i cannot afford to go private...xx

So many times we gals are given the wrong kinds of meds when we have other issues in the first place.

Post by: bevxx on June 17, 2010, 05:40:59 PM: :o i'm scared of getting my period back...because i had bad p.m.s. or as i've just found out p.m.d.d. ..but as i've been having a low carb ..low salt diet and getting exercise for a couple of months it may not be as bad as i think...so i have reduced meds...it may take a while for my body to get normal menstrual cycles back..but hopefully i won't end up on psych' ward at first sign..xx

Post by: beebs on June 17, 2010, 07:05:04 PM: Eat sugar free chocolate and make sure you spend the day doing relaxing stuff. I have PMDD and that's what I do the first day. That helps me.

Post by: bevxx on June 19, 2010, 12:03:06 AM: i read scripture the other day where it is written about it not what you put into your mouth that makes you unclean its what comes out....i took that to mean to me ..don't mess about with your meds..but i did over-ride that thought...i have for 2 days now cut my meds in half like the psychiatrist said..well i'm feeling a bit mental..its 4.50am and i've been up all night for the 2nd night...the first night i dismissed the mental thoughts as i thought it may be the weather...while i still have some normal thoughts i'm going to have the dosage i was on before...xx

Post by: bevxx on June 19, 2010, 04:13:59 PM: yea i know what it is...it's stop mucking me about doc....i've been stable for 2 years...till this week...when..i listen to them medics..it all goes pear shaped...i already feel better..i've doubled this mornings meds and had an extra one tonight...i cannot overdose as the dosage was small enough to double..and i usually have meds twice daily anyway.... xx
