Title: ketones
Post by: Alex Cruz on March 28, 2014, 11:05:11 AM
So why such mixed emotions being in ketosis? I want to buy some sticks but read different opinions.  Just curious on your thought. Is it bad? Should it be done long term? Can it affect your organs?

Ketosis is anti-inflammatory. My daughter stays in Ketosis to keep her fibromyalgia & Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis pain away.

Susie,
Thanks for the info. I did not know that ketosis had that effect on inflammation. But, that makes sense. My inflammation is gone and we couldn't figure it out(LOL). My Dr. was surprised by the last blood test. He said we thought you had high inflammation. I think he thought he mis-read a test or something! Too funny. I love how much I learn from the FTS family members  ;D
Thanks,
Diane

Hi, Alex! :)

During low-carb weight loss (http://www.fattoskinny.com/), ketosis is a normal and good thing.
Carbs cause inflammation in our bodies.
By eating very few, we avoid inflammation.

Ketosis is often confused with diabetic ketoacidosis.
That is a serious condition in diabetics that can lead to diabetic coma (passing out for a long time) or even death.
Normal ketosis via the FTS lifestyle is nothing to be concerned about.

I found that measuring ketones in urine to be an unreliable indicator of progress.
Some days, the Ketostix will show nothing or trace, but progress continues.
And sometimes the reverse can be true.

I would say save your money and just stick to body measurements and the occasional weigh-in.
Also, the fit of you clothing will tell you a bunch, too!
These are all FAR better indicators! ;D
