Pumpkin Soup Recipe?
« on: November 24, 2013, 10:48:19 AM »
I am planning my food for Turkey Day and would like to add a pumpkin soup.  Does anyone have a FTS friendly pumpkin soup recipe they can point me to?  Maybe an autumn squash recipe would be good too.  I have a couple of cans of pumpkin puree (not the pie filling).  I figure I could start by opening one, adding some water, heavy cream, and some spices and it would probably be good.  But I know you guys could tell me how to make it great.

Thanks in advance, and Happy Thanksgiving to all FTSers and your families.

Mark

Hi Mark   I tried to do a search on the forum and couldn't seem to find one.  Well I did find one post that mentioned pumpkin soup but the link wouldn't let me open it.   :-\   I've never made pumpkin soup myself so I'm not sure if I would like it or not.  I did find some links on the web to a few recipes that look pretty good though   :)

I hope this helps   :D

Nice options, Shawn! :) :) :)

I like the first recipe... I'm going to make it this week!

Fresh pumpkin is harder to find around here now. We've been trough several hard frosts.
There are fresh pumpkin chunks in meat packaging. But it's a lot more pricey than a month ago.

I thought it looked pretty good too   :D  I might have to give it a try myself.  I have just never thought to make pumpkin into a soup.....I bet it's good on a chilly night   :)

Thanks TooSweet.  I tried one recipe for lunch today.  I had one can of pumpkin puree, one can of chicken stock, 1/2 cup of heavy cream and 2 tsp of pumpkin pie spice.  Heated it up in a sauce pan.  Whisked it smooth.  It was delicious but I might experiment with the spice mix next time.

Hmm... Maybe my mind is going with age, but I wonder if using allspice instead of onion powder and adding some FTS Zero would make the first recipe Pumpkin Pie Soup?  :-\

Umpa,

The recipe you just posted sounds great.  http://www.fattoskinny.net/index.php?topic=5606.0

Ginger is one thing I didn't add to mine, but it sounds devine.  I think I will when I make more tomorrow for the big dinner.
