General Discussion / Re: carb count question

Welcome to the forum alli123, I have only been on the program for a few weeks and I have already lost 13 lbs. My sugars are also lower. The program works very well and you are not hungry. Keep looking for the lowest carb items you can find and stay within 20g and your body will take care of the weight and sugar issue. You are heading in the right direction.

Well, the social scene challenged me and I won. Went to a friends birthday celebration at a Pub. No nachos, no drinking, lots of dancing. My morning sugar was 5.6.  ;D

General Discussion / Re: Interesting....Autism and Carbs

Thankyou it is great to know that I am not the only one with not only issue myself, but also my son who has ASD with many anxiety issues. I will work on curbing that, and I hope I can block the food coming into the house, but it is so hard to curb the tastes of the rest of the family.

My son is eighteen and has ASD. He enjoys high carb foods and tends to stash them in hiding spots when I leave the room. My husband will look for the full bag of chips and find the empty bag under my sons bed.. I am trying to lower his carb intake because diabetes runs in the family, and anxiety issues will prevent us from checking his sugars if the need arises. My resent diagnosis of diabetes makes this a reality  that he is heading in that direction also, and as a parent of child with AS, I am sure that you understand the EXTRA fears. Do you have any advise other than locks on all cupboards?

In the past I have received CONDITIONAL support for weight loss as long as the cheque was in the mail. It is quite uplifting to know that there is support out there JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE CARE. I have received support from people that don't even know me because they are good people and want to help. This gives us a new faith in humanity. Thanks for the support it is very well received. It is nice to hear "GOOD JOB" from someone that is not being  PAID TO SAY IT. Your success inspires us all.

I am a newbie and proud of it. I started a few weeks ago and have already lost 10 pounds, and my sugars are looking better. I am thankful for the support. When life forces us to change we need support or we fall back into the same routines. I have done several diets in the past, some successful, some not. They have always made me want to go to bed at 7pm, because I had already eaten the food for the day. This is not the case with FTS. I can stay up as late as I want because food is not CALLING ME FROM THE KITCHEN. I don't feel the urge to eat because I feel satisfied.
