Title: First Day of the rest of my new life
Post by: SherriPie on March 29, 2010, 12:24:16 PM
Hello! I am so glad to have found this forum. My name is Sherri and I am so excited to start this new way of thinking and living. I am tried EVERYTHING and I mean everything and it never works. I loose some for a while but nothing permanently. I found the book and it called to me. I have set for today to be the first day, my husband and son aren't thrilled about it but they are going to try it out too. I am a diet pepsi-aholic so that is going to be tough, also I am an all day snacker..so that will be tough not to have my normal cookies. But I am excited and going to do it. I run a business from home and sometimes it just feels like I am hiding out, embarrassed of my weight. I am ready to not be embarrassed and to start living my life.

Watch out world....here I come!

Hello Sherri, welcome :) Don't worry about the diet Pepsi, it's not causing you any weight issues. As far as snacking all day....go to my recipe section and make some snack trays. Keep them in the fridge at eye level and hit them when you want a snack. I don't want you hungry. It's important for you to separate hunger from boredom. Working from home leads to boredom eating. Make sure to follow the test outlined in the book to reach true hunger.

You're going to be fine, stay in touch...this is your support group :)

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I am on day two and it has been a lot of fun. I miss my cookies and sweets but it has been fairly easy to just ignore the sweet cravings. I have to tell you it almost feels like I am doing something wrong it's been so easy. I have the whole family on it and they have been really great about it. I made breakfast burritos this morning, using the recommended tortillas, fun wraps for lunch with lettuce leaves and we are having hot dogs and a huge salad for dinner. I am really excited about this!

I think I am doing something wrong. Ive been doing this for over a month now and I seem to have only lost 5 pounds. I count every carb I put in my mouth. Sigh. I dunno what to do. Maybe my scales are off.

Oh Sherri you are too sweet :)

I love snickerdoodles! If you could figure out a recipe for that I would be very grateful.

Hi Beebs,

Lets explore what's going on with you. I want you to start a new thread on the LEAN ON MY SHOULDER board. name the topic and then I want you to tell me exactly what you ate yesterday. If you've only lost 5 pounds in a month sugar is sneaking in somewhere and I doubt the scales are wrong. I'll respond after I read your next post.

Sorry for the delay in replying. First it was Easter than my family all flew out to Florida to see us. We just relocated to Florida a few months ago and it seems everyone wants to stay with us and hit Disneyworld. Anyway..I love that you can do a snickerdoodle recipe.

My Snickerdoodles:
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

They are amazing and soft and YUMMY!

By the way I did go with my new eating plan even at Disney! I have gone down a WHOLE pant size in 19 days! Imagine what I can do in six months :)

Thanks! It is amazing to finally find something that works. Sometimes doesn't it feel like your cheating because it's so easy to do? My only complaint is Reddiwhip changed it's label and it now says 1 carb per 2 tablespoons, I love reddiwhip on jello!

I just re-read this. I can't imagine how different my life would be right now if I never found FTS. I was always feeling so bad about myself, feeling like I had so much to loose I was never going to be able to do it nor did I know how to get started. Now 7 months later and 100+ pounds down I feel incredible. I have energy, a smile on my face and the knowledge that no matter how long it takes I will be thin! WOO HOO FTS!! Thanks Dough and Umpa for the encouragement along the way!!

You can do it!  Now you know that it is possible to have the body of your dreams.  You are such an inspiration for me.  I have only lost a little over 20 pounds...but I stay true to the course, by this time next year I hope to be down 120 more pounds.  Starting today I am giving up my diet soda and drinking only water and herbal tea.  We can do this!

Did you do it? Give up your diet soda completely? You are my hero if you did. I still have two a day and would love to just give it up. I really enjoy my morning soda though  :-[

Hello Sherri, first of all I agree with my wife.....sexy is definitely a good word for the new look,  ::) you earned it, by God enjoy it! :) Secondly it's good to see you went back to reflect. I too remember when you first came to our forum with lots of weight to lose and Lot's of determination to lose it. I'm proud of your success and have no doubt you'll reach and maintain your goal weight. As other members come onto the forum we all need to remember they too are starting on their new life's journey. You and many others have become a beacon of hope that they can succeed as well. Of course we know they will if they stick to the FAT TO SKINNY program  ;) You my dear are proof of that!

I have my water right here beside me as I post.  I did it. I gave up diet soda. I noticed the scale went down faster this morning.  I was drinking diet rite, four a day.  I am just so focused and determined to lose all of this fat.  I too have been hiding behind it for years.  I have only been averaging 2 to 3 pounds a week.  Do you have any tips for me.  I have read where you have lost as much as 5 pounds a week.  To lose 100 pounds is a small miracle.  I am so proud of you!

Thank you Doug, Umpa, Paula and everyone for the kind words. We are coming up on a hard time of year. I LOVE pumpkin pie, it's already killing me not to have it or Divinity at Christmas. What is Christmas without it! So we shall see how it goes.

@ skychant you are my hero. I am going to try it too. I love my diet soda but every time I drink it I wonder if it's screwing up my eating plan. So tomorrow it's gone. I am going to give it up with you. As for loosing weight, when I started it just fell off. I was loosing 5-8 pounds a week...then it slowed. Last two months I I have been only loosing 2-3 a week and it is driving me crazy. Short of never eating again I'm not sure what I can do to loose it faster. I did buy a stationary bike this week and started working out so we shall see. Though my Dr says 2 pounds a week is the most you should loose to keep it off long term, but I would still like to be loosing 5 a week.

2 to 3 pounds a week is something to be happy about.  Especially when I was drinking 4 diet sodas a day plus eating sugarfree candy almost every day. I did avoid caffiene and drank plenty of water.  I am going to try to cut out sweeteners and up my water intake and exercise every day .  I really do enjoy this way of eating and am so greatful for Dougs book and the forums.  I know I can lose all of this weight.

Sherripie lets see how much more we can lose before New Years.  I just think next year at this time I will be at a healthy weight and on my birthday I will have a slice of sweet potato pie.  This birthday I am making the Almond Brownies.  I am determined to stick to this way of eating through Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I have spent years of letting myself eat to much during the holidays and gaining 10 pounds.  That has come to an end with my new lifestyle.  I weigh in at TOPS every Monday evening and that helps me alot.  Maybe there is a TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) near where you live.  The support helps me stick to my goals.  We can do this!

Skychant you should not be going without anything. This is a lifestyle change. If you want sweet potatoe pie we can do that.Just ask umpa. But you are setting yourself up to fail by not replacing your foods.Once you go back to eating *forbidden foods* you are gonna gain the weight back.Replace not remove, and you will lose the weight and keep it off like Katary and Sherriepie ;)
