Title: I've lost 20 pounds in a month and gained 2 back?
Post by: FAT TO SKINNY reader on March 04, 2010, 04:00:31 PM
Hello Doug~ My name is Jenny.  I bought your book about 1 month ago.  I had heard you speak on the radio.  I have lost almost 20 pounds in the month that I have followed your book.  I am so pleased.  I am wondering if you had ever in the time you were trying to loose weight, gained any back.  I have not lost any weight  in over 1 week, in fact I gained 2 pounds back.  I hope this is normal.  I am not quiting.  I feel much better, and am hoping to loose many more pounds. Any words of wisdom? Greatfuly~ Jenny Reimer ::)

If your weight stays the same for more than three weeks, youíve reached a plateau. Donít fret! Plateaus are a good thing. At this point, your body is efficiently burning all the food youíre eating based on your normal activity level.  Youíre making progress! Now itís time to evaluate where you are, where you want to go, and what to do about it.  If youíre happy with your size, then you have reached your optimum weight. Keep eating the same, keep your activity level the same, and your size will stay the same. If youíre unhappy with your size, then itís time to tweak. You have three choices:

1-   Keep your food intake the same and increase your activity level.
2-   Change your food intake and leave your activity level the same.
3-   Change your food intake and increase your activity level.

You already know how to increase your activity level, so letís talk about your food. The first thing to look at is what youíre eating. Start by removing ALL SUGAR alcohols and artificial sweeteners from your intake. Remove ALL packaged foods, such as pancake mixes and tortillas. Stick only to protein and a measured amount of veggies from the veggie list. The second thing to look at is the amount of food youíre eating. Are your portions too large? Your body is changing as your FAT is burning; itís adjusting to your new low-SUGAR eating plan and is different from what it was when we did our first ďwhat is hungry?Ē experiment. Itís time to do our experiment again. Use the next three days to get to know your new metabolism. Eat only when you are certain youíre eating for the right reasons, and only eat as much food as you need to satisfy that natural hunger. In most cases, men and woman find their answer is in their food. SUGAR in condiments, portion control, and eating for the wrong reasons are usually the culprits. Adding additional activity without recognizing the other factors will only bring temporary relief, so start with the food.

Loosing weight quickly isn't wise. Its best to loose 1-2lbs a week  and its more likely to stay off. No sugar and low carbs seems to work best for me, but the hard thing once its lost is not putting it back on. A good fitness workout plan with improve diet plan will help you in this regard.
