Title: catznflwrz tues. meals
Post by: catznflwrz on May 16, 2012, 12:38:44 PM
Hi FTS Friends, I hope this is the right place to post my meals. I'll start with yesterday Tues. 5/15/12
Breakfast: 8oz water, 3 bacon strips, 2 hot eng. breakfast tea w/2 drops zero and 1 tbsp heavy cream
I don't usually have a mid-AM snack because I try to start getting going on my water for the day
Lunch: grilled bone and skinless chix breast 2cups fresh spinach sauteed in EVOO with garlic powder and water
Snack: 1 oz almonds
Dinner:  1 cup beef only chili made w/ crushed tomatoes, cumin, garlic powder, yellow mustard, Worcestershire, and cilantro. Mixed greens salad w/ EVOO and red vinegar Italian spices. 1 cup sliced steamed yellow squash w/ butter, salt and pepper.
Snack: frozen "pop" make from 2 tbsp heavy cream, water 2 drops zero and later 1 cup sliced strawberries
Note: I'm aiming for 64 oz of water a day sometimes I only get in 48 oz I have to stop drinking liquids by 6-7 PM as urinary retention is a side effect of narcotics that I take ie: you end up getting up countless (5-7) times per night having to pee because every time you go you only pee a little, go back to bed feeling relieved then wake up feeling you have to go again, only to pee a tiny bit again and so on. So, to avoid that from making my sleep worse than it is I don't drink past 6-7 PM.

catz,
I'll take a stab at this.

Here's what I see the carb count to be:
Spinach - .39
Yellow squash - 3.63
Tomatoes (assumng 1 cup) - 7.2
Strawberries - 10
Lettuce - 1.32
Worcestershire sauce (assuming 1 tsp) - 1
Cumin (assuming 1 tsp) - .72
Garlic powder (assuming 1 tsp) - 2

This totals 26.26 carbs.  You may have had slightly fewer tomatoes in your chili, but that adjustment still won't get you to 20 carbs or lower.

I understand the issues with drinking water after 6 or 7 at night.  It may take effort to build up your intake earlier in the day, but 48 ounces is not going to be enough, especially since you need water to help your liver flush meds, not just fat.

You have some unique challenges and you have seen your weight gain end, a big deal given what you are facing.

Keep at it.  You need to make so adjustments in your food choices.  Tomatoes are a problem and beware the carb count in spices and sauces.  The benefits are just going to be slower to come to you, apparently.

This is the right place, Catz. :)

I agree with Andrea's analysis of your menu.

You must be careful of those "little" things that add up quickly.
For example, did you know that only 1 TBSP of Worcestershire sauce has 3.3 grams? :o

If you aren't doing this, I suggest you write down EVERYTHING you're ABOUT to eat,
then count ALL the carbs,
make adjustments where needed,
and finally, sit down and enjoy! :)

Here are two great carb count sources I use that may be helpful to you;

One other thing to remember...
After you've been living the FTS lifestyle for a time, you'll just KNOW how much of WHAT you an have. :)

The transition to FTS takes some getting used to.
But when you do, it'll be second nature to you!... Easy Peasy!!! :) :) :)
