Hi gang
I just wanted to share the recipe for the yummy coleslaw I made tonight. I love the coleslaw that the restaurant Kentucky Fried Chicken serves and had a hankerin for some tonight. I had made some BBQ pulled pork (I'll share that recipe on another post) ;D But I thought it would go great along side. Here is what I came up with:
I head cabbage shredded or if you are feeling lazy just use a package of cabbage slaw mix already cut up for you (this is what I did) ;)
1/2 cup Mayo
16 drops of FTS zero (you could use 1/4 cup xylitol here just make sure you give it time to dissolve)
3/4 cup heavy whipping cream (you can cut this back...I started with 1/2 cup and ended up adding more)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/8 tsp onion powder
1 1/2 Tbs white wine vinegar
Mix all together and fold into cabbage. Chill for at least an hour. This was so good I wanted to lick the bowl....HA! :P Hubs tells me it's a keeper ;)
I'm thinking of adding celery seed next time to see what it does to it ::)

KFC Coleslaw has always been my favorite but it's got sugar. Thanks for posting this.
-
Good Morning Andrea :)
TooSweet I don't understand what the cream does?
-
Good morning ladies. Umpa it thins down the mayo and adds to the flavor. ;D Trust me it's really super good ;) I changed it up from a recipe that I had that called for milk and butter milk. I just made it more FTS friendly.
-
I am sorry,Good Morning TooSweet :) I gotta try this I am curious now :)
-
;D
-
toosweet if i was going to use the bag of shredded cabbage is one enough or can should I use 2 ?
KFC slaw has always been my favorite and it was the only thing I craved when I was prego with Tyler LOL
-
I made this over the weekend and it is FABULOUS! I used one bag and I'd say the right ratio is a bag and a half.
Mine's almost gone.
-
Thank you
-
Looks Yummy!!
-
Jo I'm sorry I don't know how I missed your question. Andrea is right. :) I've even used two bags myself to stretch it for company. If it needs a little more liquid just add a little heavy whipping cream to thin it out. I'm craving it again already!! LOL

Thanks toosweet

I get where you're coming from, Jo... This stuff is almost TOO good! :D ;D :D
-
I completely understand.... haha It makes a great side for a big family get together and no one is the wiser that it is FTS friendly ;)
-
I don't need to worry about eating it all because my husband works from home and I'm lucky if there's any left for me when I get home from work. Really, it is that good!
-
Well it is easy to eat too after its been in the fridge awhile those 2 bags of cabbage that was a big full bowl goes down to about half I put them in 1/ 2 cup bowls but I just went and got another thank goodness it was not high carb
-
;D ;D ;D I did the same thing Jo Haha I figure at least I know how many servings to count ;)
-
This looks great! I can't wait to try it this weekend. Dumb question, but how do you shred cabbage when you use a head?
-
Food processor or the old fashion way a grater (wach ur fingers )
-
Hi ....no such thing as a dumb question ;) What I do is cut in half and then half again so that you have 4 wedges. That way it will sit on the counter without rolling away from you. It also gives you a cut edge to work from. Just start on the cut edge and slice as thin as you like ;D I haven't a clue why the video says that it doesn't exist, but if you click on the link below it, it will take you right to it :)

Like TooSweet I like a sharp knife ;)
-
If you have a mandolin, it works well to get thin pieces for coleslaw.
-
It never occurred to me to use my mandolin! Good Morning Andrea :)
-
Good morning, Umpa. I use mine a lot. Any excuse to work those arms.
-
Good point Andrea :) I have used my meat slicer too, especially if I have a lot to cut. It makes really quick work of it

Become one with the "bat flaps"........You never know when you may need a umbrella! :D :D :D :D :D
-
I cut the head into eighths and ran it through the salad shooter. Worked great. And this is excellent cole slaw! Thanks for posting it Toosweet!

I'm glad you liked it! Take it from me though, make sure you store any left over in serving sizes ;) Seriously I could eat the whole bowl by myself :P :P

*smooch toosweet* ;)

We were lucky enough for TooSweet to make this and share it with us. Hubs thinks it's great, as do I. That's why I'm here, to steal the recipe LOL. When we had a small container left over I put some on my chili cheese (Hebrew National) hot dogs. I used to not like coleslaw on hot dogs BUT this was to die for. The last bite that was left went on my leftover hamburger patty the next night. Very versatile flavor here!! Thanks TooSweet.
-
;) ;) I'm ready for another cook out Haha

You are the bomb TooSweet ;D
