Hi, Gang! :) :) :)

Everyday, research doctors are getting closer and closer to the causes of most diseases that plague us today.
And these "causes" are found in what we eat!

Last year, we learned from heart surgeon Dr. Lundell, that digestible carbs cause arterial inflammation.
Which, in turn, is responsible for heart disease.

It seems that Omega-6 oils may also cause inflammation!!! :o

The good news is that if we balance them with Omega-3 oils, we can cancel their ill effects.

Omegas are wicked important.Great for eyesight too let alone the heart.Also prevent skin cancer ;)

Yea I saw it also on CBN and also read it in the Paleo Solution book so I also consume coconut oil that helps to balance omega 6's effects.

I started consuming coconut oil a while back, too.
I buy it Wal-mart. A large plastic container is only about $5. :)

It's actually very interesting and let's face it we can never be too way informed, can we?

That was really interesting Tony.  Coconut oil here costs about $10 for a 500g/500ml (however they work it) jar.  So it  is a bit pricier than the one you can get.  What exactly does the coconut oil do/how do you use it?

The only product I could find in my fridge/pantry that had soybean oil in it was the mayonaise and that was from the States.  I only ever use olive oil or canola. It was interesting to note the change in status if olive oil gets too hot. 
I was thinking though as I watched the video, that most of us would probably not be eating a lot of the products that have the omega 6 because it doesn't fit in with the fts program.

I take a red krill oil supplement which apparently has more (or would that be more potent) omega 3 in it than normal fish oil capsules for its size.

At least with more research, we are all discovering what is actually hurting us.  Still won't change a lot of people's eating habits though.

Hmmm...arterial inflammation...kind of what I'm fighting w/ my daughter's health. I cook with Smart Balance oil that has 1,000 mg omega 3 per tablespoon.

How coconut oil works is not completely understood.
I've heard, however, about it's many benefits. One of which is preventing, and even reversing Alzheimer's symptoms! :o

I will put some on my GG bran crisps along with natural PB.
Coconut oil is virtually tasteless. So you can add it to most whatever you want.

One interesting thing about it, below 76 degrees F, it's solid. Above that, it melts!

It also adds moisture when baking. I like to put it on my feet at night and cover them with socks once a week.Really makes them smooth. ;)

Sorry I missed your post.

The benefits of Omega-3 fats has been well known for quite some time.
It's one of the reasons why fish is so good for us.

I love the fact that those fats will counteract the damage from Omega-6s.
So let's all be sure to get plenty of Omega-6s however we can! :)

Tony, I like you have found a liking to the coconut oil and it makes a difference got sure. My skin has stop being flaky and itchy since I started consuming coconut oil and all the other omega's.

I make sure I get some every day to counteract the omega-6 fats in my food.

I used to have a rough patch on my left elbow for most my life.
Since I've been eating coconut oil, it has disappeared! :o

I eat it on a GG bran Crisp with PB, or cream cheese in the mornings when I take my vitamins.
But I've heard reports that applying it topically on the skin works for some skin conditions, too.

Now that I've learned about the dangers of omega-6 fats, I make sure that I eat 1-2 TBSP everyday!

Hi, Susie!  :)

You'll benefit from it no matter what you add it to.
I use it in cooking almost anything that requires some fat, but not added taste from the fat (e.g. bacon fat).

As it's almost tasteless, so the possibilities are enormous! ;)
I've even been known to put some on my celery with a small amount of Lawry's Seasoned Salt. 8)

Coconut in baked goods adds moisture.It doesn't have a high flashpoint.Susie if you post a picture for me when she has a outbreak I may be able to help :) I am a herbalist.

I've seen it in Trader Joe's but I found this one in our local Harris Teeter.  I was just shocked that it was there  :o   So far I really like it  :)  I believe you can order it at Amazon though  ;)

Thanks to low carb living Mary does not have as much pain. This is a great anti-inflammation way to eat.
She used to take pain meds 3 times a day & use heat pads. Now it's pain meds about 3 times a week. She still has pain but it's bearable now enough to function.

This is a great topical salve for arthritis and joint pain.Very easy to make. ;)
For this recipe you’ll need...

    1/2 cup olive oil

    Two heaping teaspoons of cayenne powder (or 15 grams).
    (Just pick this up at the market if you don't have any.)

    1/2 ounce of beeswax
    (Available at Mountain Rose Herbs, along with cayenne)

    Double boiler
    (Don't have one? Try a local thirft store.)

    Cheesecloth
    (Available in supermarkets.)

Begin by infusing the cayenne into the olive oil over a double burner.

I heat the oil and cayenne until it is warm, turn off the heat and let it sit (warmly) for about 20 minutes, then turn the heat on again.

I do this for at least one hour to a couple of hours, you could do it for 24 hours if desired.

Once the cayenne and olive oil have been infused, strain off the powder through a cheesecloth. Reserve the infused oil.

Heat the beeswax until it is melted. Stir in the infused oil until the beeswax and oil have been thoroughly melted together and combined.

Immediately pour this mixture into jars or tins. (Makes roughly 4 ounces).

Let it cool and then label it.

 When I'm away from home I use a tube of pain gel that has small balls on the cap to rub the muscle. It works really good. She also gets knots in her muscles regularly. When she goes anywhere without me I give the tube to any adult who in charge. When it's empty I want to try your recipe to put in the tube.

Hi - this sounds like a wonderful end product.  Umpa, please explain what you mean by infusing the cayenne into the olive oil over a double burner....what goes where???  I know what a double boiler is...do you add the cayenne and olive oil together???

Good news about Mary!!!! Took her to pediatric heart doctor today. Cardiologist commended me for her healthy diet this past year, it actually improved her heart so much that she no longer needs heart surgery. Mary was in tears and hugged me & thanked me.

I discovered cocoanut oil a year ago. I use it as a deep conditioner on my hair before I shower. I use it on my hands (I have to wash my hands a lot and they get very dry), I use it for frying chicken(it adds a lovely flavor), and since I started FTS I have been putting it in my coffee!  :)

It does an amazing job clearing up Mary's acne. Got her to keep it sterile and she's actually doing it.
